looks like the Cannondale reducers use internal bearings.

Have a look at the bearing numbers and replace the bearings.

    Send the imperial stuff back.

    email from cannondale

    Hello.

The CO2 Alloy HeadShok frame features a HeadShok sized headtube in which you can use a reducing headset in order to run a 1 1/8 inch fork. Your local Cannondale Retailer can further assist in choosing a reducing headset that suits you and your frame the best.

Thank you for choosing Cannondale. Have a nice day.

    .

    Note this bit.
Additionally, we make a Double Xc-short, which allows the use of a 1.1/8" fork with Cannondale HeadShok frames.

which is not the linked one.

    and again.

    Pictures of what you have.

Or just get a couple of reducer cups and a standard headset.

    Hi
ive changed the forks (rock shox reba SL 2009) but i dont like the headset its a bog standard ballbearing type, and will soon break or wear, so wanted to change it for a sealed type.

Your frame uses standard external headset cups, not internal (and definitley not integrated).

Nowt wrong with loose balls in my eyes, keep 'em clean and greased, got years out of mine.

Right so we now know that the old set up is a headset reducer and not a reducer with a headset.

    get some of these
    http://www.ison-distribution.com/ison/e ... t=HSIDHR58

the ones to take the C'dale headtube down to 1 1/8th and then a "standard" 1 1/8th headset.

    Hi
sorry it was 205mm with the bar clamp and spaces, but if you buy the same forks there is plent of for stem, i cut about 3" off mine.
  • Hey Fozzy, I've just noticed that your new forks are 100mm but the Dart 2's you replaced were only 80mm, will this be ok ? I guess 20mm in nothing to worry about.

Was going to get a pair of Tora 318's but I've just been offered a pair of 302's for FREE, these are 100mm though and I'm not sure if this is ok, I know I could change the spacer inside to make these 80mm but it would be nice just to drop them straight in.

Hey Fozzy, I've got an F6 Disc 08 and just last week my headset seized up completely.
I called Leisure Lakes who told me I could just put an FSA Pig straight in, job done!
Anyway, after stripping the bike down and taking it into them, they tell me I will need a different, much more expensive headset because of all the issues mentioned before.
Long story short, the manager put in some of the reducers nicklouse mentioned for free. I'll just have to watch this one and re-grease regularly!
I didnt want to spend £50-60 when I'm hoping the missus will give the all clear for an upgrade at the end of the year!!
