Ah the forum is now truly complete, thanks B.O.B

But really are campy groupsets better than shimano ??

My 105 STI seem to perform perfectly unless dirty then they give up the ghost quickly but then my campag brakes def. have lots more stopping power and my cane creek brake levers look even better than campag.

Is there an alternative to SRAM, Shimano & Campagnolo

Basically. Helmet wearing, triple riding, red light jumping, fairweather, pavement riding, altura clad numpties of the highest order.

Lets see that photo again. No can't be a campy user, his head hasn't disappeared up his own arse.

To be honest over the years owned both and they all function pretty much the same.

I'm going to put campag ergo shifters on my otherwise full shimano cross bike :D

    Is that wrong? :o

I have Ergos on my otherwise fully Shimano (except the Veloce brakes) commuter...
  • I always imagine that Campag die hards also use MACs. It's that whole evangelical thing...
    <insert witty comment here>

Also, I have calculated my FCN as 12...although I have no idea what that actually means.

I use a Mac. I use it 'cos it's better than a PC. However I use both Campag and Shimano. Nowt wrong with either of them.

  • I'm confused...........I have Shimano on my Giant, wear a helmet but don't RLJ.........I also don't *think* I'm a numpty!

Of course I can't really wade in on this discussion proper as I have yet to sample a Campag equipped bike, having said that I am very impressed visually with the look of Super Record 11 :-D

  • most of my bikes have shimano though there is smattering of other parts as well the town bike has scram gripshifters (which i hate)

and old red has downtube shifters so that pritty much means shimano though still has the old friction suntour front deraailer.

It was a £8000 Pinarello Prince down at GB Cycles, it looked like it was clamped down to the display so touching it wasn't an option!

  • I guess it comes down to whether you want to put fishing gear on ya bike http://fish.shimano.com/ or not.
SC61.10a: FCN 3, with clip-on guards for winter
Uncle John: FCN ?? knobblies, or 'fat' slicks n guards

Did you need to use any shifter adapters?

I'm using a PC with Windows 7 beta for this post but normally use a Powerbook, I have two other laptops with Vista and two with Ubuntu.

oh and two servers one with 2003 adv server & exchange and the other with Slackware

Win what exactly - The NERD competition?

Just got my macbook pro running XP on parallels. Does seem wrong having windows on a mac though. And yes I'm aware of bootcamp before anyone mentions it.
  • ah but VM's are cool can run xp win 7 (it's attaully windows 6...) linux, solaris etc...

BURN HIM!!! I die a little inside when I see a Mac running Windows!

  • Riiiiight, let's wade in. New Dura ace is 1. Lighter, 2. Cheaper, 3. Classier and 4, More reliable than the cheap italian plastic crap. Let's face it, the Italians don't exactly have a reputation for engineering longevity/reliability in the transport world, whatever their aesthetic merits.
11 speed is a scam for gullible fashion lemmings, and making the new chain require a unique and very expensive chain tool means they must have a huge wide window at the campag factory to see you all coming. :D

VM's are neat for tryign OS's out, I specced out a near perfect PC for just the task on PC Specialist earlier - quad core CPU, 8Gb ram (the most they offered) and 1.25Tb hard disk space (I could have gone upto 4TB but I think that might be overkill.....like I'd need to run 4 copies of vista at the same time!) and it all came out at less then £600!

Anyhow what was the topic again?

Your missing the point, it's that it goes upto 11!!! That's better then 10! Like if I had (for example) and amp that went upto 11 that would be louder then yours that stops at 10 :-D

Look I only have Windows so I can run the few programmes made by firms that refuse to be nice to Mac users - things like 4ondemand for instance.
