Hour of Power- A Thank you

been reading through parts of this thread....quite interesting TBH but in case i've missed it somewhere can i ask when doing the "power hour" what resistance on the trainer are you using, high medium or low or is it just whatever resistance you can manage to get the heart rate to the desired level.
sounds a real killer of a workout but if it can get good/quick results i'd like to give it a go and see how i fair out.Lapierre Aircode 300

I use power as a measurement and I use gears to select the correct resistance/cadence.
I don't know how I'd go about doing this on HR alone. I don't think there's a desired HR, it's more about power or speed or whatever independant measure of effort you use. If you look at my HR plots (in the link 2 posts above this)you'll see how HR is a terrible proxy for effort in these kinds of efforts.0 -

As the title suggests, the workout is desjgned for use with power figures being generated and you knowing your own threshold level.
Attempting to do this type of workout with just HR would be very frustrating and for me , I simply would not bother.
HR can be steady in longer intervals... but as eggs are sure as eggs you will seemingly hold your HR steady or even up as the interval progresses but in actuality, your power is decreasing
But watching just your HR, what incentive have you to push the pedals harder?0 -

I've got a left-handed 11 mile loop with easy corners and I do 2 in the hour. There's a 100 degree left at 6:22 and 37:21, but other than that it's non-stop pedalling.
ETA the plot on the blog shows 10s ave power so the non-pedalling low power corners are somewhat masked.0
