We have been given some free film rentals for Chiristmas

Now have to choose films I want to see

I have to choose 5

Any ideas? (on the whole I watch films to entertain me, not make me scared or miserable)

Cheers

Reservoir Dogs, the kids will just love to jig along to the sound track with you. You can teach them the "pouring petrol over the one eared man tied to a chair" dance. Gerry Rafferty crosses the generational gap.

    And V-for-Vendetta, obviously.

    The Big Lebowski

    Raising Arizona

Belleville Rendezvous (if you can rent it)

Naked Lunch (if you don't mind wierd (and I mean wierd) movies)

Jarhead (if you don't mind war movies, although this one is not like most..)

    Sorted....

BTW that last one isn't a film

    Adaptation
Happiness - not the awful Will Smith movie but the Todd Solondz one
    The Constant Gardener
    No Country for Old Men
    The Bourne Trilogy

Or just start hiring The Wire season 1, you'll be addicted after a few episodes, greatest TV drama of the last few years.

Mmmm, but the quality of the writing on the Wire is far superior... it's almost Shakespearean. I know that sounds ridiculous but it really is that good. Generation Kill is also wonderful.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - just because its a work of art and even the imperfections are just right.
Another vote for the Big L.
And Sex in the City - once Mr. L has watched the other 4, you'll want something to watch yourself.

No, Leonard Rossiter or John Cleese are geniuses. Steve Martin is passably good a gurning.

Clockwork Orange (not for the kids)
The Incredibles (For the kids)(If you don't have it already)
    Sonnenallee (Just for you)

Control. Although it might be a bit grim if you watch it without knowing the ending.

When leaving the cinema in I was quite tempted to utter 'I never saw that coming'. Ian Curtis, Anthony Wilson RIP.
  • Ooooh brun I saw your ad!

    Very good it is too.
