Crossfit - beneficial for cycling?

Been toying with the idea of joining a gym in London, but as I'm still paying for suspended membership on one of the expensive gyms back in Sussex (paying a reduced fee of £10 because I'm not using it, compared to a monthly fee of £69 and having to travel 20mins+ to use one anywhere near me) I'm reluctant to bother - the suspended membership has a time limit on it so at some point I'll have to revert back to full membership, even to cancel it (which takes 3 months).
A friend has told me about Crossfit which looks interesting, as well as being able to get hold of kettle bells etc. pretty cheaply so that I could do it at home.
Has anyone tried it? How beneficial would it be for cycling?
I'm thinking that the squat-based exercises plus the intrinsic core muscle exercise would be really useful?
Advice appreciated, ta! 8)
