Dear all

To support the release of Cycling:Successful Sportives, Dr Garry Palmer of Sportstest will be running a "Successful Sportive Seminar" to explain the principles of training to maximise everyone's potential. The seminar, which is held at the Sportstest office in the West Midlands, will take place this Sunday 25th January at 4pm.

Labelled "A truly inspirational and motivating seminar, with proven scientific success" by Cyclosport.Org, the four hour session will discuss optimal preparation for cyclosportives. Sportive riders who would benefit from the session are likely to have events like the Raid Pyrenean, the Etape and the Marmotte, next summer as their main objective, but it will equally be of value to novice sportivers, or those looking to ride UK events only.

Whilst not specifically focused at road racing, many of the principles will be relavant to those competing on the road.

The seminar will last approximately four hours and will be broken down into two sessions, separated with a break for refreshments. Dr Palmer will cover essential topics in the first session, including:

Determinants of performance
Identification of goals and aims
Plan of training phases
Effective training
Building a training programme
Why train with a heart rate and/or power monitor?

The second part of session will focus on Optimal Nutrition Strategy for riders. To finish, there will be ample opportunity to ask specific question.
