Judging by that short but sweet paragraph, I would say that she is lucky to be alive.

if you look on the http://www.animalcommencal.com/ site, you can see the picture of the mess she made of the truck.

big head shaped smash in the windscreen and all!

these athertons seem to have issues with dislocated shoulders recently eh!
Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

  • poor Racheal hope she gets bette soon, although you ar eright they do have a habit of breaking and dislocating stuff dont they lol??

  • Someone commented elsewhere that none of them appear to have helmet hair, none of them are wearing helmets in the pic, and assuming Rachel was wearing a helmet, I'm sure the others would have been familiar with first aid techniques and would have known not to remove her helmet following the accident.

Or possibly none of them were wearing helmets at all...
  • She's wearing an Alice band stretching before the ride on the Commencal photo's - does that count

I read she was NOT wearing a helmet. I dont want to appear overly judgemental but I cant believe people of their experience wouldnt wear a helmet. I think she`s one lucky girl (dude)
  • Looking at the picture of her brothers popping her shoulder back in she's hard as f**king nails!!

She is definitely one lucky lady, no helmet and hit a BIG truck, hope she recovers quickly and the shoulder gets sorted. I did mine in a crash years ago and it pops in and out in my sleep still, it's a nasty injury. What got me is the fact she was on the wrong side of the road, head down with a stereo on. I wouldn't be here today if I hadn't been wearing a helmet and I wish riders who are in the spotlight would set an example, after all it is their lively hood at risk as well as their lives.

Hope she has a speedy recovery

 I speak from valuable experience, at the end of the day it's up to you you to make your mind up on whether to wear one or not. I hate the helmet debate as much as anyone else, now for the but, but the fact remains you are better off with one than without

Wear a helmet, don't wear a helmet, your shout. Ride without looking where you're going, ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD, and you get no sympathy from me, that's just idiocy.

Don't really want to comment on the accident except to say that I hope she's feeling better soon and that's she's fit in time for the world cup kicking off.

Well hopefully she'll serve as a great example as to exactly why you REALLY SHOULD be wearing a helmet, and looking where you're going. So in the long run, could be a good thing.........in a weird sort of way.
