Mel C lives just up the valley and Kate Humble's my neighbour, so we see them about.

I was on a plane to Belfast once and found myself sitting next to Bob Holness. When the pre-flight beers worked there way through I needed to get up from my window seat. I tried to stop myself, but couldn't help saying "I'll have a pee please Bob!"

Briliant! Tell us he responded with an unexpected and hilarious quip...

    and various pop stars/tv actors i can't remember :D
  • Shared a cup of coffee with Chris Boardman once, when we were waiting for a prize presentation. Just before his first hour record.

Met Eddie Merckx at the velodrome.

Met (briefly) Jack Nicklaus at The Open one year.

Even met the Governor of the Bank of England, some years ago.

The queen and prince Philip at buck house a few years ago (my employer had won a queen's award)

Lord Lichfield in Copenhagen airport; he showed me his limited edition transparent Olympus Mju

Frankie Dettori all the time in Newmarket

Rory McGrath quite often in Cambridge.

Chris Eubank the lithping boxer in one of the posher hotels in Brighton. Full on jhodpurs, monocle, riding crop etc. A very statuesque, striking figure of a man.

Alan Hansen was our guest speaker at the company's annual bash this year in Berlin; had a chat and got his autograph for our youngest.
  • Dame Edna Everidge often babysits for us. We've been maintaining a vigil at Jade Goody's bedside recently and it's great to know the little one is in safe hands.

Malcolm McClaren used to clean out our rabbit hutch. His timekeeping was so appalling that we ended up giving it to Paul Daniels who lives next door but one.

Kylie used to come 'round for tea but hasn't been since she made some snide remark about the amount of time it's taken Handy Andy to complete our kitchen. My wife suspects she's under the new patio which Tommy Walsh lay for free.

If anyone is still in regular contact with Antonia de Sanchez, tell her she still owes me a tenner!

Say what you like about Paul Daniels, but he is ever-reliable. Not the cheapest when it comes to rabbit hutch cleaning, but he'll do the job and you'll have no complaints. It's worth paying for quality IMO.

  • I live in Lundun so I have obviously seen faaaahsunds of celebs. The one I will always remember is John Craven (I can sense how impressed you all are). I was leaning on someone's wall on Scrubs lane waiting for a bus (late 1980's) and I saw this fellow running towards Shepherds Bush Green. WOW, I thought to myself, thats John Craven running down Scrubs lane, just as he tripped up and pretty much face planted on the pavement in front of me and slid down the road on his front for a few feet. He got up and looked at me rather sheepishly hoping I hadnt seen him (he was 10 feet away) or really I guess in the hope that I didnt recognise the face of John Cravens Newsround lying down on the pavement in front of me. I tried not to laugh out loud until he was out of earshot.

    Not many. Those that spring directly to mind;

I've met Jeremy Paxman (twice), when I was a University Challenge team member.

Once saw John Prescott on Wolverhampton station (he'd been opening some new development or other by the indoor market) - looked much shorter and, dare I say it, not quite as rotund as I expected.

    I've met loads!

However as I am employed as a technician in a venue and I've been working in entertainment since I was 14 it's not too suprising really!

Doesn't surprise me; I was listening to a live interview with him on BBC 6 Music late last year, and he seems a decent, down to earth sort of bloke, with a great sense of humour.

Was he apologising for refusing to tour with Zep this year instead of concentrating on developing his bloody awful country-folk partnership with bloody Alison Bleedin Krauss?

A mate and I got lost mtb'ing in the North Downs. I asked directions from a resident who was watering his lawn. My mate later told me the lawn waterer was John Suchet. He gave good directions.

I saw Magnum PI (Tom Selleck) right outside my wife's old flat. He was working. There was a film crew. I'm not suspicious.

I saw Gordon Ramsay talking on his mobile in Covent Garden. He looked grumpy.

I was having lunch in a restaurant before Christmas and there was John Prescott at the table behind me. What are the odds?

No, really - what are the odds? Anyone got a clue? Dave Gorman would know.

Oh nearly forgot - when I first moved to London after uni (93), ended up sharing a flat in Finchley. Flatmate worked in ticketing for one of the west end theatres, and we got free tickets one night to see Carousel at Shaftesbury Ave. Went for a drink in the pub behind/close to the theatre, and who did we end up getting ars*holed with but Phil Daniels (he was in the production at the time). I didn't know who he was until we got home that night and was shown the Quadrophenia video cover. Great to see how he went on to better things (I mean, of course, Flavia Cacace).

In 1983 I saw Tina Turner in a mini in Stockport (she was playing at the Davenport)

I once saw Victoria Beckham buying a top in H & M in the Trafford Centre.

Oh, and I once saw the Queen, but I image everyone's seen the queen by now.

I got drunk once with Rik Mayall and Michaela Strachan - just the three of us. It was brilliant. And I got Johnny Depp's autograph for a transsexual friend who's in love with him.

I think we need more detail here. On all counts.

I shared a table with MotoGP rider James Toseland last year. It felt strange when he came over & asked if he could sit with us.

Saw Eddy Jordan checking in for a Flight at Heathrow (2004).

I have met quite a few TV presenters, motorcycle & car racers as I have been to a few race meetings (in the pits etc) and normaly go to Goodwood FOS each year.

The person I have met that I hold in the highest regard is G Agostini (sorry, can't spell his first name). Probably the best motorcycle racer of all time, yet someone that is so passionate about the sport that he will talk to anyone that shares that passion.

Oh & I met Wendy Houvenagel a few weeks after the Olympics:

Adam Hart Davis once mistook me for Richard Ballantine. Came up, shook my hand and said "Good Morning Richard"

Apparently he had been told that Richard was the big guy with a beard and recumbent and I matched that exactly

He that buys eggs buys many shells,
