Struck me the other day in my 50 years walking this planet I can only recall seeing 6 well known people in real life situations, most of these were footballers. These were:

Martin Chivers (Spurs and England) circa 1979 played him at pool in a hotel in Brighton
Frank Mclintock (Arsenal) - circa 1981 in a pub in Finsbury Park, London
John Harston (West Ham, Celtic) - circa 2001 going into a bank Potters Bar, Herts
Glen Hoddle - circa 2005 going into Selfridges, London
Vanessa Felz - circa 2007 in a cake shop (yes) in Holland Park, London
Gok Wan - last week in the street Spitalfields London

who has seen any better than this? can't be hard to beat these are all very C list. Anyone seen Madonna in Aldi?

    Hey there,

    I made coffee for Mathew Perry a couple of times while I was working in Vancouver. I remember him asking for some bland sugar-free syrup, skimmed milk rubbish.

  • Stood next to Tony Doyle at a urinal chatting away.
  • Walking over to the Shell garage one evening in Muswell Hill (three or four years ago), I notice someone walking just slightly too slowly in front of me. I make a move to pass on the right - no, said person moves just slightly to the right. I try left - left. I try right - right. I try left, no right. Yes, finally through on the right! Nearly legged him up though. Just as I'm coming to the forecourt entrance, turn around to make eye contact with the 'idiot' who held me up for all of 2 or 3 seconds. Lo and behold, it's Todd Carty.

    'Alright Tucker!'

    :roll:

    Caludia Schiffer in Bayswater (no, she didn't recognise me).

    Someone off Smack the Pony in Liberty (just googled - I think it was Sally Phillips)

    A white-haired actor off Emmerdale in 'Jam; hair salon in Headingly (c15 years ago) (just googled - still no idea what his name was. He had a moustache).

    My favourite, though - Rob Brydon at Mortlake train station heading in to London.

    Bjork at the Warp Records Lighthouse party. She was just wandering around with the punters enjoying herself.

    Mel C from the Spice Girls in about 2000. Was quite often on the treadmill next to me at gym at Finchley Rd.

    Heston Blumenthal at Smithfields

    Madonna at a gig about 10 years ago. She was just watching and the crowd was ignoring her (I think it was Squarepusher maybe?)

    Gok Wan on Oxford Street.

    That woman off the Kenny Everet show a couple of weeks ago at Canary Wharf.

    Badly Drawn Boy sat next to me @ a Godspeed You Black Emperor gig at the Scala in 2001 / 2.

    Chatted to Mark Webb (Pro BMX'er) at Adrenaline Alley, Corby. Also Mike O'Connell (Pro BMX'er for Standard, a wizard with his front brake) on the same day.

    Stood and witnessed Lindsay Lohan and her current gf getting papped in Bryant Park, New York, while they made no attempt to move.

    Also walked past Johnny Knoxville from Jackass (who was walking with his arms around two hot blondes) at 4am on Hollywood Boulevard one night when i was travelling - he was blind drunk and said hello!

    Other than that, loads of music people from going to gigs and festivals and managing to get press passes.

  • Passed by the cottage of the actor who plays Eric Pollard back in the early 90's when on an early season reliability ride near Southwell, Notts;
    Saw Valeria Golina (actress plays Tom Cruise's love interest in Rain Man) in queue for LA flight at Milan airport;
    The actor Pip Miller who had a part in East Enders in the late 80 had a house at the bottom of our lane for some years;
    Best of all: back in the 80's my own mum presented a 6 week series on French gardens for Channel 4!

    Mel C lives just up the valley and Kate Humble's my neighbour, so we see them about.

    I was on a plane to Belfast once and found myself sitting next to Bob Holness. When the pre-flight beers worked there way through I needed to get up from my window seat. I tried to stop myself, but couldn't help saying "I'll have a pee please Bob!"
  • And two others - Mackenzie Crook in Muswell Hill. And Johnny Vegas with a devastatingly good-looking woman.

    And then you put in the milk.
  • And then there's the cycling personalities from when I worked in the bike businesses in Italy:
    Felice Gimondi came in to the office on a weekly basis and I was lucky enough that his mechanic from, Bruno Vigalo, would look after my bike.

    Bugno, Pantani, Urs Zimmerman, Echavarri, Frank VDB coming out of his hotel all suited and booted after the 1999 Milan San Remo, Fernando Escartin, Frank Hoj, The entire Squadra Azzura and mechanics at the team hotel on the Saturday before the San Sebastian Worlds in 1997 (Bortolami, Bugno, Faresin, Bartoli, Casagrande), Julian Absalon, Hermida, Moser, Merkxx, Fondriest, Adorni, entire Mercatone Uno Team season 2000, 2001 and 2002, Cancellara and Pozzato at the Valkenburg Worlds after the time trial when they were still just juniors.
    But best of all: Robert Millar.

    Used to see out reguarly training: Gotti, Lanfranchi, Vainstains, Celestino, Brignoli.
