    Hi blorg,

    If you can put up with an increased mudguard gap at the back you won't need to pop out the stays. I have done this on mine and had no problems removing the rear wheel.

    @d_c_h_w- cheers, I actually had no problem popping the wheel out with the mudguard set as it is in this photo, I wouldn't want the gap any narrower anyway. It was a misplaced worry. I would like to get the front one moved in closer to the tyre a bit though- will have to shorten the stays to accomplish this.

    Put on the fixed cog last night, happy with it but it sure feels like a tank. Got it for commuting/shopping/etc so reckon I can live with this. Swapping the tyres for 700x25 slicks may alleviate the tankishness too.
