Heart Rate Monitor

I'm after a good heartrate monitor but something that won't break the bank.

Preferably it will double as a cycling computer as well so i don't have to mount to separate devices on my handlebars.

I would also like it to have a cadence sensor.

Here's the catch - I don't want to break the bank.

Does there exist such a device for people on a tight budget (i.e. stingey besterts!)

This ought to do the job...

just ordered one, so can't personally recommend, but BikeRadar did, and at c £70 too.

think you'd need to buy an extra bit of kit to turn it into a genuine cycle computer... but looks pretty decent.

I'd recommend the Garmin Forerunner 50, I got mine for £20 from Wiggle, definitely a bargain.

i've got a polar cs300. great for running and other sports as well as cycling. you can also get a cadence sensor for the bike.

I've been looking at the cs300cad today and as I also need a new watch it does not sound as bad to the purse string holder.

There looks to be a lot of functions on it, is it easy to use?

    Looks great!

Anyone used one of these? Functionally, it looks exactly like the bottom end Polar.
  • i can't fault it.
standard watch features plus actual, average and max heart rate.
i bought one to use on the turbo trainer to gauge my sessions, for me perfect. :D
oh and its under £8 bills

one question - can you change the chest strap batteries or do you need to bin it everytime they go?

Forerunner for £20 is a real bargin IMHO...

Sadly, I think that my local has a bad batch :(

I bought one today which didn't turn on, and then got that replaced for another which died as soon as I pressed a button on it. Not sure whether to go for the third-time-lucky approach.

Bad day for cycling for me
    - tomorrow must be better :P
  • a mate in work put me on to them.
