edited January 2009 in MTB rides
If anyone's interested, I suggest a run out on Saturday 10th January to get some of those Christmas calories burned off.

I'm looking at a run starting in Todmorden, West Yorkshire (easily accesible from East Lancashire and from Manchester by train from Victoria station). About 18 miles (which I think is plenty this time of year), starting at the leisure centre top car park, Ewood Road.

All abilities welcome, but please come prepared and keep an eye on the weather!!

Meet 9:30am for a 10:00 start, back about 3:00pm. Route map available for them as wants it on PM of an e-mail address.

Forgot to say, you'll need to be self-sufficient, there's little opportunity to refuel en-route. Apart from the burger van at Gordon Riggs garden centre. Or Granny Pollards Chippy. Mmmmmm....granny.....

There's always the burger van outside Gorden Riggs Garden Centre  .

I don't look anything like my avatar, but you'll have to judge Dave in the flesh

Not if you take us anywhere like Kentmere today I won't. Sheet ice or frozen rocks covered with 1.5 inches of crusty snow. Grip was non existent. Not really suitable for riding. Can't remember how many times I fell on my arse - up and down like a bride's nightie I was.

If I'd been fell walking I'd have worn crampons.

Please say it won't be like that :!:

Can't guarantee it, we've had a fair dusting of snow yesterday! That said, I have got an alternative route planned if it looks like being impractical.

It'll be fine, most of the snow's melting. Was fantastic last weekend, the bits between the ice were really good hardpack, dry mud, excellent riding.

Dave, good luck for this. I hope you get a few riders to come out. Me and easyG would be up for it but I'm struggling with laryngitis at the moment, plus I haven't ridden the bike for over a month now!

So I hope it goes well - And please post up again if you are going to go out on another ride - There seems to be a few of us in this area, so would be good to get together in a large group!
