Bit of a blog: Increasing resistance on a Trainer

My Giant trainer is ok for basic workouts, I've found, but I really want to crank up the pressure on my legs. I thought to myself, instead of tightening the bolt for the wheel (which does seem to make it harder on the legs) why dont I increase drag on the wheel?
So I've put some loose strips of tape across some of the spokes, has seemed to make it a bit harder - worked up a bit more of a sweat tonight, the tape acting like little sails catching the air. I'm going to have a few more plays, I think I've worked out another two ways to use drag.

I find reducing tyre pressure also helps increase resistance on my mag trainer. Might increase wear on the tyre though.0

Yeah I found that with another bike I tried on the trainer. The tyre was up at 85psi instead of my personal fave of 110psi and resistance was very slightly harder. It did strip a bit of rubber off though. I've got an old race lite on the trainer at the mo and that hasnt worn as much.0
