I just checked my training diary and i've done 3135 miles this year including over two months off the bike with a knee injury various colds and holidays.

2009 will be the start of my second full year cycling and my first real attempt at the metric century challenge http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... =challenge

Either I've miss read your other posts or you too are fairly new to cycling, or is it just commuting?

Only been cycling properly the last four years. But, atm (kids, work etc), over 90% of the miles are accrued on the commute.

    3,402 since records began.

That was 30 Mar 08, so averaging that milage out over nine months and extrapolating I get 4,536 miles.

(oh, and I did set out on a 30 mile ride yestrday, but after 10 decided it was way to cold/I wasn't dressed properly, so I gave up and got the tube home).

1095 (If I manage to get out today I will brake the 1100 mark) I thought that was quite good for 6 months and 3 of those using the train, Then I read all your figures and realised I need to MTFU,

Another 3000 miles by midnight then lol

About 2500. I had an accident which kept me off the bike for a month and has led to some problems with my knee and shoulder, and so more time off the bike - but I'm happy with what I've done. I also visited the track several times and did a couple of little races that stand out as real cycling highlights for me

  • Well I noticed this morning that my cycle comp odomoeter has ticked over past 3000 and I got that a good few months into the year.

My spreadsheet for tracking commute mileage shows just over 2200 since April, and I could probably add another 1200 miles to that for the first 3 months (average 100 miles a week on a 20 mile roundtrip commute) plus about 300-400 miles in "recreational" mode!

As with CJCP family commitments mean most of my miles are laid down on the commute, if it wasn't for them I could see myself going out for rides each weekend and would probably (well certainly) have joined a local cycle club by now :-)

I have done around 1050 on the roadie (326 of those in December) since I got it in April, 293 on the MTB in the last couple of months since I had it and countless "errand" miles on the BSO.

Think 2009 may contain a few more miles for me unless the addiction wears off......

Not as many as I should. ~4000miles on bike 1 and bike 2.

I don't have a computer on my commuting bike, so that could easily be 1000-2000 miles this year.

And my Langster, although 6months old, still has zero miles.

I should have done loads and loads more, I had June, July and August free for cycling, but injury, broken bikes, and helping my sister renovate her house seemed to limit my mileage.

Started commuting by bike for the first ever at the end of January. I am now taking a winter break of 2 months. I am rather chuffed with 4344 miles for my first year. I am not sure I can improve by much next year. Maybe I should aim for 5000 miles.
  • Fewer than I would have liked...

Comp on the crappy roadie is showing 2176, and I got that for xmas last year, so that's that one - I've done relatively well with my resolution to ride around 50 miles each weekend, but not well enough I tell you!

Working it out for the commute, that's probably around 3000, based on 70 miles per week with travel days and holiday weeks/weeks spent broken in plaster subtracted. Really need to figure out a method for transporting my suitcase to work by bike.

Less than I'd hoped! Must try harder.

about 4700 miles on all bikes :) but if I had not been out for 2 months with a snapped clavicle would have easily hit the 5000 mark...next year :D

    9 imperial centuries
24 metric centuries (although jogle help this :) )
    I spent 4% of 2008 on a bike...which means i need to speed up :)
I spent waaaay to long keeping a record of my rides
no punctures 4400miles on road or touring bikes :D:D
loooaads of punctures on MTB :(
    1 snapped chain
    lots of bananas :P :P :P :P

Don't have my training log with me at the moment to be totally precise, but....

for the year Start Nov.07 to end Oct 08, I logged just short of 13,000km. I did I think maybe 1800km in Nov + Dec 07, so up to October that would make about 11,200km for the year 08.

Nov + December I think I can add in another 900km or so, to a total of about 12,100km for the year 08, around 7,520 miles or so for the non-metric.

Most of it was commuting, I did every day to work from about the start of March to September when I was made redundant, doing 28 miles a day, with another 40-60 miles then each Sunday. Since then I've been obviously doing less

Just like everyone else, not enough (did anyone do "enough" this year?)

Commuting, roughly 1500 miles but i don't use my computer on commutes.

Leisure rides, 1030 miles - 4 short of a new yearly record :P Did 2 imperial centuries (one was helped by a couple of laps of the local park to bump it up from 98 ). Most rides were at least metric centuries.

Would have done more but i did my ribs in during the summer which meant 4 weeks of no commutes, a further 3 weeks of no long day rides, then several more weeks of building up my fitness and distance again. So, with that in mind, i'm quite pleased with the distance i did get in the end.

Aiming for at least 100 miles per month next year, not including commutes.

Over the year on the two bikes I've used a paltry 800 miles byt like Jen J I only do a 1 mile commute. I know I need to MTFU and get out more.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Over the year I cycled 2167 miles, up from 680 in 2007. I did these miles in 127 hours which makes an average of 17 mph. Although I wish I could have done more, I still spent 1.5% of my year cycling!!

    Goals for 2009.

    1) Enter a sportive
    2) Commute more to work
    3) Buy a tourer
    4) Be fit enough to climb some hills in the Alps in the Summer.

Nope, we had a very grown up dinner party at a friends house and stayed the night, the 1.5 miles is the distance between in-laws houses.

    No hangover today either :D

  • Just under 4200 for the year which started out on a rubbish trek and then involved a cartilage incident, but still not bad. Maybe 5000 this year.
  • 13,000 miles, commute fifty miles a day plus couple of long rides at weekends. Reduced car mileage from 22,000 to around 7,000 also. Also completed Raid Pyrenean in July taking four and a half days for 520 miles.

Has saved me a fortune in fuel and servicing costs which gives me more to spend on my fleet of bikes..
