I've recently treated myself to a Garmin edge 705.
Its got a work out/ training menu built in but I'm unsure how to properly set this up.
I'm not into racing but want to try and get fitter in other ways than just spinning my legs.
Anyone help me out with it?

You and me both, i got one yesterday. Managed to get the topo gb maps for free and just made a route using bikeroutetoaster which im going to follow today. Do a search on google for frank kinlan, very helpful site.

I bought mine from Wiggle for £280 complete with full UK topo maps.
They've gone up a lot now.
I just use either memory map or the Topo maps to make my routes which are easy to follow.
Its just the heart rate zones that confuses me.

Once you program in your max heart rate it has different routines using the different zones (which are based on %age of max heart rate). Can't say I've bothered using this feature yet though.
  • Hi there, Matt Page, one of our sponsored Enduro riders wrote a great article about the 705 as a training tool on our bloggle - http://www.wiggleblog.com/2008/12/22/matt-page-garmin-edge-705-mtb-review/ which may be of use.
