Start time likely to be 8:30, or 8:45 at Richmond Gate, Richmond Park :D

Personally I won't be out as I'm back in Sussex from Friday. However I'm sure the other regulars would agree it would be great to have new faces out so as ever anyone who's been looking on with interest feel free to turn up and tag along, the more the merrier :D 8)

Hopefully it won't be too icy or wet this time around - all I can say is be careful as you turn into the lanes at Cobham!

Enjoy guys 8)

I'd be tempted to come out on Sunday. Saturday mornings I'm normally running.
  • Good stuff funkin. Sunday is a possible for me. The major problem is I am Garmin-free and infamous for my lack of sense of direction.
Anyone else about - 60 or so miles if we do Surrey Hills.

    Lads,

I know I have been absent the last few weeks due to recovery from a cold, but was wondering whether anyone was up for some Xmas bevies this weekend be it in the evening or an afternoon?

If so suggestions for venue are open. To get the ball rolling I am suggesting the The Fulham Mitre, nice pub and close to all transport. And I think there is even a bike rack outside.

I have garmin, but the route is in my head now. I am pretty keen, but I dont know if I can do either day this weekend, as I might be working saturday, and sunday I might just be busy !

Anyway would be good to get some new faces out - wrap up warm though - think last time we were out I wore pretty much every bit of cycling clothing I owned at once! 8)

A cracking idea and I would have jumped on it, only I'm venturing South to Sussex after work on Friday and as it stands I'll probably be there for most of Christmas :(

Well i'm jumping on a plane tomorrow for places sunny. I'll be back for the weekend of 10/11th Jan, so jetlag permitting I should be out on that weekend.

Also signing up for the Audax Willy warmer on 31st Jan: http://www.aukweb.net/cal/calsolo.php?Ride=09-943 thought I would get some early season miles in the legs..

Have a great Xmas and NYE. 8)

  • Looks like Sunday is shaping up - a 9am roll out would be preferable...
Bernard - are you joining us? Might be up for a few warm ales Saturday evening - I'll be in S Ken till 5/6ish and probably need a drink.
Wilf - Will be heading to the motherland on the 24th so we should meet up. I'm taking my bike with me - bring the Wilier and I'll show you some of Edinburgh's hills!

I have received confirmation that I am working on saturday. I should only be working a half day, and quite lucrative too! :D

I am hopeful for sunday, though I will have to confirm if I can make it soon. If I can, then of course I know the way, though we can do some small variations for interests sake, and of course, to keep Phips happy we will take in Box Hill.

Al - if you are coming, bring armoured inner tubes! :D

    catch you all later!

p.s. being on leave is meaning I am drinking too much piss - oh well

I am a little sleep deprived as a result of little'un, also minor hangover (training is going down pan!) but I am free later on today and the weather is nice enough to enjoy a few laps of RIchmond Park later today. I will hopefully be there sunday, along with a special guest star.

I'm still thinking about Sunday, although realised I'm out at an Xmas party on Saturday night. If it does go ahead, then what time is it? I've seen 8:30, 8:45 and 9am mentioned/requested. Personally any of them work for me.

Yes 9 is okay by me. There is a chance I may have to bale between now and then but I hope to be there.

50 miles through the surrey Hills?

Oh and park was lovely and sunny - only did a lap and a bit as I took brother-in-law to prologue in Sheen so he could drool at some nice bikes. I think my bike is too erm 'ordinary' so I really need a new one. I fancy a Ridley Noah, or a BH *dream* oh and some of those FFWD torodial 50 cm deep section wheels

I see my influence is rubbing off...!!:wink:
  • Felglen - I'll buy your Planet X for a monkey as I know the abuse it's been put through.
New bike - Surely it has to be an Orbea Orca for the QBH?
9am Sunday is perfecto. Funkin - we lurk by the exit side of Richmond Gate inside the park - see you all then!

I cant sell my bike anyway - technically my employer owns it untli august next year, by which time it may well not even be worth a monkey. As for the abuse comment - I cant help that my max power output is like half a megawatt or something 8) I wouldn't go for the orca - would like a Pinarello or Ridley or Wilier.

Anyway hope weather is okay for the weekend. I seem to remember reading that it was going to be over 10 degrees C this weekend - I'll bring the suncream :D

I think I wil be having another pop at the Hillingdon Winter Series on 26th and 27th - I have found a nice hill to do intervals on and I am going to be as religious about doing sets over the next few days to stop my legs going to jelly when I get out of the saddle (hence my always staying in the saddle!)

Excellent. This is close to the toilet block right? There's a sign with a map of the park etc. just outside as well if I'm not mistaken.

I'll be the rather tall chap (look for the high saddle on the Black Specialized bike with tri-bars) and a bright red windproof jacket!

So who's coming? I still can't guarantee my attendance yet.

I went for Bacardi Breezer, white wine and a slice of cheesecake for dinner last night. Here's hoping my energy this morning mostly comes from the porridge I've just had.

How did it go? I didn't make it today as I had no sleep due to difficult night with little'un all sorted now but way too late to get a meaningful ride in. Perhaps writing was on the wall as my GPS was flat anyway when I tried it today.

  • The shortest day of the year but perfect conditions - even warm when the sun came out. We went a bit off piste and discovered a tasty climb or two we've not done before.

Next Surrey Hills sortee for me will be the post NY hangover shaker on Sat or Sun 3rd/4th. Here's the post: http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=15094390#15094390

Today was my first ride with the BikeRadar peeps and I enjoyed it. I ended up clocking a few miles more than originally intended but with the amount of food/drink I've been having lately I think it was necessary!

Apologies that I wasn't quick enough to site at the front much (after that 10 minute burst near the start of the ride) but having a target to aim for in the distance made me push harder than I would have done had I been on my own.

    Cheers and see you soon.
