Not sure if this is the right place to post this but... Every two years I have a full medical with my employers, lots of blood tests that sort of thing. Reading some posts reminded me of one of my blood results from a couple of years back which I didn’t fully understand at the time. There was no problem or indication of ill health according to the Doc, but can anyone help explain the following. My red blood cell count was low, but the haemoglobin count was fine. The Doctor said there was more haemoglobin in each cell. I can’t remember any of the numbers quoted, but is the haemoglobin level related to the haematocrit levels I read so much about on the race forum? Or is that just the volume of the blood occupied by RBCs regardless of what is in them? And if someone has been naughty with EPO or similar would they have more RBC or just more haemoglobin? Would having more haemoglobin in each RBC explain my cycling prowess... or lack there of
