I've bought my wife a Ninentdo Wii fit for xmas as she likes using keep fit dvd's and i was wondering if anyone on here used one for cycling training?
I've never seen one used other than on the tv adverts but there seems to be yoga type exercises and thought that might be useful for improving core fitness.
So are they any good for this? as i might nick it for myself if it is!

Not sure he uses it for fitness but he definately injured himself doing snowboarding on one!!
I have the wii fit board and it is a good laugh and some of the exercises can be quite challenging. I don't have time to use it as a fitness tool at the moment but it has been used to track my weight fluctuations over the last 6 months as I have lost my 2 stone-ish.17 Stone down to 12.5 now raring to get back on the bike!0 -
I got one, just for the Shawn White snowboarding game...
Fell off the balance board a couple of times, but not hurt myself...yet!Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Wii fit is a great laugh though I didn't need it to tell me my balance was sh1t as the bike tells me everytime I'm on it. If you do 45 mins of the stuff on there it does get your heart going so not worst thing in the world and damn sight more appealing for most people than the exercise bike/treadmill/rowing machine/cross trainer/ tony little crud they bought 3 January's ago and have only used twice :shock:0

I've been using ours for a couple of months, I can't say it's improved my cycling but my ski jumping is getting better by the day. 8)It's not the size of dog in the fight but the size of fight in the dog.0

The last 4 weeks with my arm in plaster would have been a helluva a lot more boring without the Wii! The ski jumping's addictive! Rather embarrassed to admit that i've been getting into the yoga!? :oops:0

Using the wii fit has helped me shed 2 1/2 stone since May this year. I guess at least one of those I would credit to the bike. I must admit I never thought yoga worth a light but the feedback given by the board is really useful and helps improve balance and overall fitness. Jogging on the spot is pretty hard work and a very effective aerobic activity, probably more so than the turbo... at least for me. The boxing exercises are quite fun too, and you can pretend to be Joe Calzaghe!0

That's entirely possible.....It's hard to tell sometimes when people are joking or serious whilst looking at text.17 Stone down to 12.5 now raring to get back on the bike!0 -

Fuzzy - please try not to take me seriously!

My wifea is a black belt on Wii Fit having reached the prodigious target of 100 hours but utterly gutted to find the platinum pig for 100 hours is purely urban myth! It's surprisingly good for your core body strength and balance but less so for aerobic fitness - and brilliant for your ski-jumping.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
