Oh, By the way: For anyone intersted in dabbling in home recording, I have had this page bookmarked for years. There really is some good stuff on it.

You could actually start recording, just by plugging your guitar into the microphone socket on your PC.

I'm not sure if it will work out any cheaper to import from outside the EU onced you've paid import duty and VAT on top of that. And the VAT is added to the delivery cost as well.

Yeah, even with the £30 addition it's still nearly £150 cheaper than most other places.

Yeah, game on! Got a few days off work in a couple of weeks so will order and sit eagerly behind the door. Will get my amp fixed in the meantime and by the end of February will be annoying the neighbours...
  • Chris,

I've bought a couple of time from the USA - sometimes you get stung, sometimes you don't. My Firebird came through duty free, my Godin Acousticaster was liable for the extra (glad it wasn't the other way around

BTW - my rig - and it sounds soooooooooooooo sweet turned up...thank god for detached houses eh

The Firebird has now departed but the g/f bought me a lovely ebony SG Standard for my 40th 8)

How could you get rid of the Firebird? It's a classic, and it's also the only Gibson I like.

Have you ever head Tom Petty & Mike Campbell playing them live? Check them out here, it's amazing 8)

  • Though I loved the look and feel of the Firebird it's sound never really fitted the classic rock stuff that I play - it was always too thin and cutting hence very difficult to EQ in a room. TBH the Firebird Studio with true humbuckers not the ceramic minis is a much more realistic option but I'd have to get a luthier to swap those nasty little dot markers for proper trapezoids. Maybe one day ;)
