Listening to my iPod this morning to take the edge off "working"...

I realised why I now have such trouble with the intro round on "never mind the Buzzcocks" - I'm a terrible old buffer who is no longer down with the Kids or rocking with the hep cats. However even once I have admitted to be a pipe and cardigan bound embarressing father with no shame - even I have guilty pleasures.....

The charts at the minute are full of bland tripe.

I think I hear one good/original/different song about every 3 months. It's worse around Xmas - there's always some talent-free-zone from the X-Factor inflicting themselves on the discerning public.

I'm currently listening to the Dave Matthews Band to take the edge off my boredom.

And NMTB is a great show! Simon Amstell = better than Lamarr.

We did try upgrading to Radio 2 but it was different, not what we were used to, and we got scared and changed it back.

I listen to secret agent on Soma FM or Last fm all on the internet. Last fm is particularly good for tracking your similiar artists.

Guilty pleasures though are:

Andrea Bocelli [hangs head in shame :oops: ]
60's dnacefloor fillers [Northern Soul compilation album ]
Johnny Cash [Live @ Folsom Prison]

I do try and have a varied mix so i don't just listen to old stuff i like some recent stuff too.

My tip for the day is Fat freddy's drop, an ace album IMHO

I was so confused when the Beeb showed the 2012 Olympics party in London kick off with that music, I thought Morrisons had agreed a sponsorship deal. :shock:

I like Keane. Went to school with them (and Chris Martin actually!) Like Coldplay too (pathetic claim to fame I know). Chris was in the year above me at school - you might not like his music but he's a sodding talented musician, he used to play at school and he was brilliant aged 16, lovely bloke to boot. My Mum bumped into Tom Chaplin (of Keane fame) the other day, the whole drug thing came up in convo (my Mum isn't famed for her subtlety), his Mum just said “well he’s been a very silly boy.” Doesn't matter how famous you are eh, your old Mum can still bring you down with a bump! Quite enjoying Perfect Symmetry, particularly the title track.

The office is currently rocking to all 3 of the Strokes albums on repeat. Fcuking awesome band the Strokes.

I feel safe now saying I have seen Take That live, it was before they were famous and were playing a free gig in the Market Square Nottingham 1991 I think.

I would put Boney M above Steps on similar scale to an Austin Maestro above a Lada.

Queen would have been amazing.

I have been to see Aerosmith live three times now, each time they've been supported by or preceded by (at the hyde park festival last year) current 'good' bands, and completely blown them away with their energy and showmanship.

But then I am slightly biased. I do love the 'smith.

My daughter was very keen that I should buy the greatest hits of Enrique ingla. engla. oh you know the one. Anyway, I may have bought it for her but i deny any suggestion that I may have watched the DVD and enjoyed some of the tunes...I know so little about him that I couldn't even tell you any of his songs. For the record, Do You Knoe, I'm a Hero but I had a lucky Escape as I'm Not In Love... :oops:
(Mental note to self, dust off the Squeeze albums and listen to some real music)

Saw Aerosmith in 1988 at Wembley Arena supported by the Quireboys. Aerosmith were awesome. The best band I have seen live is still Faith no More, Mike Patton was just amazing and a lunatic. Foo Fighters have been damn good as were Guns and Roses.

There's too much good music masquerading (how do you spell that?) as a guilty pleasures......

Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, The Boss, Sabrina, Northern Soul.

All of these are up front classic material, I want someone to out themselves as a Dolly Parton Fan.

Oh I'll do it myself, Jolene is a classic.

I like Dolly. Jolene is one of the default songs my brain sings to me when I'm bored. I also really like the duet she did with Norah Jones on Norah's last album - 'creep on in' is the name of the song.

My guiltiest pleasure would probably have to be Bon Jovi. Or meat loaf. Actually, yeah, meat loaf. :oops:

Careful - I love free bird, but it's music to jump off tall things to. Driving a car off a cliff for example. Definitely not a guilty pleasure.

And yes, Meat Loaf is tricky. It's my guiltiest, I think.
