Man,i just can't stop pickin'.
After training rides and the club run i never feel hungry, but 2/3 hrs later i'll have a normal meal ,but,my god i turn into the 'R' Whites man an hour later,i swear i've got a tan from the fridge light
My missus was berating my 6 year old daughter the other night,on the fact that her sweety draw had been desamated,of course i let her take the rap
Please, help me kick the habit, before the poor kid finds out it was me who ate all the curly whirly's :!:

well - if you are gonna pick - at least pick on something useful to your body - and not curly-wurlys!!
some nuts are always a good choice - cashews and walnuts are my favourite. Pistacchios slow you down as you need to shell 'em.
beef jerky is a great snack as it tastes great (as long as you aren't a veggie), last ages as it is like leather and actually provides a great protein hit.
there's always fruit too i guess.
or just get your face out of the fridge and stop eating!!!0 -
Beer is good to get from the fridge.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Its not just me then. Since it turned cold i can't leave the vending machine at work alone. I would snack on nuts instead but i'm allergic to them, and too much fruit plays havoc, erm, down below. I could just ride my bike more to burn off the excess chocolate0

I am going to fess up to the curly whirlys, but, not before monday.
Advent calenders start to be cracked open,oh,sweet jesus how much trouble is my little one going to be in when there's only two days left that haven't been scoffed :twisted:If your out the back, can anyone hear you scream?0 -
thanks for brightening up a dull friday afternoon. I laughed out loud at that. I find that as soon as I start on the *refined* carbs I can't stop. Best way to avoid it is to avoid the refined carbs in the first place. Also, you should take on some carb and protein straight after you cool down, I tend to do scrambled eggs on toast or a couple of crumpets with dairylea but some folks swear be rego or maximuscle type drinks.
alternatively, ride so much you can eat what you like .... gets harder and harder to keep up though ... you could end up riding all day to pay for the choccie!!--
Obsessed is just a word elephants use to describe the dedicated. http://markliversedge.blogspot.com0 -
When I "need" to snack it's normally my brain doing the talking not my stomach so I get a big glass of water (or squash). That helps my hydration levels but also can fill me up for a while. If that fails I'll go for an apple (I'm lucky, I really like them) but I make sure we have red and green so there is a choice. Carrott and other raw veg also make excellent snacks.
Recently, I've also found rice cakes useful - esp. as they come flavoured these days and I'm a Marmite fan!!!
Hope this helps some,

Get yourself a tub of a good recovery drink and neck some within a few minutes off getting hime.
I use Torq, and a bottle of that when I get in after a 5 hour ride will keep me happy until dinnertime, with no trips to the larder needed later in the evening either.
Without it, like you, I'm a fridge hoover after a ride0 -

+1
Or eat a sandwich (with some protein) within half-hour of finishing the ride. One club coach used to suggest these to stave off the munchies: http://www.boost.com/Products/ourproduc ... drink.aspxNo-one wanted to eat Patagonia Toothfish so they renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it's in danger of over fishing!0
