Wiggle selling Lightweights

Regarding holes in kit - that's down to the weight of fabric being use and where it rubs. I've worn holes in kit after extensive use
Exactly, totally agree my point was that mine appeared after a month or so light usage. I'd have had no issue if the hole appeared after a year or so, maybe I was unlucky? I have tried (believe me i've tried) to get away from spending more than i need to on kit, but every time i try something on (De Marchi tights vs Assos F1 Mille tights, same shop, same time) I felt the exceptional fit and comfort of the insert out-weighed the £45 or so difference. Each to there own, i must just be a fussy sod. My mother is obsessed by handbags, maybe i'm obsessed with padded tights!!0 -
My Alexa (remember them?) super-roubaix tights date from ca 1994 and were Lusso-type prices
There is a darned-up hole in the knee, but that was due to me connecting with the road rather than wear/quality problem0 -

Surprised about wearing holes in Endura quickly - you were unlucky, as I've got Endura roubaix 3/4s I've had so long I can't remember buying them, the only small hole being due to user/ground interaction. I can accept if you've tried other things and the Assos really are more comfortable - maybe I'm just not that fussy. Though still don't understand how a windproof jacket for instance can be more than twice as good as my superb Endura one, given comfort isn't an issue with that. You also mention inserts with tights, whilst I wear unpadded tights over shorts, hence the comfort issue is different.0 -
Compton77 wrote:To my mind Wiggle is like HMV, if I want the new Coldplay album i can walk in go to the charts section and pick up the recordings of Chris Martin whining and stamping away, no problem. Now if i wanted a special edition Sigur Ros album on double vinyl with a hidden track now i'd expect to have to un-earth it somewhere and go on a bit of a journey for the full satisfaction of having something which i'll get maximum pleasure out of but would also have been an experience at the same time. This was, personally speaking, one of the reasons to have Lightweights. This has now been taken away.
No disrespect to Chris Martin, i'm sure he'll have one of the first RD's. Gwyneth is a platinum customer.
So even if HMV sold the 'special edition Sigur Ros album on double vinyl with a hidden track' you wouldn't buy it from them and would spend days, maybe months or even years searching for a copy to buy off some Roy Cropper lookalike
No offence meant, it just seems daft when something this nice finally becomes readily available people are quick to moan about the fact...anyway, back to work and some overtime so I can buy some nice bike kit0 -

Some people here are a bit wide of the mark on weight weenies and wiggle. wiggle sell loads of high to very high end stuff ... among other things:
SRAM Red, Record, Dura Ace groupsets
Top-end Easton, Zipp, and Campagnolo wheels
Carbon Dura Ace chainset (great value)
Top-end Focus bikes (which have lightweights)
Ok, the rear derailleur is pretty excessive ... in their with the carbon DA chainset ... and I guess an exercise in brand building for wiggle. I imagine it will concern some LBSs that are in that market yes. But wiggle stocks a LOT of high-end kit. Doesn't surprise me that with their market power they are now stocking lightweights.0 -

I'd agree with that statement, although I paid barely more than £50 for my Assos Bibs anyway.
I'd rather spend the £55-£60 on Assos shorts with Pads that actually provide comfort, than the shorts for £30-£40 which have excuses for inserts. I spent £35 or so quid back on some dhb bib shorts, that were apparantly really good, but in reality were useless and a waste of money (although the dhb bib tights (bar the rubbish insert) were pretty good).0 -

i don't mind endura and dhb shorts/tights. quite good value IME. though the old dhb merston tights were better than the new ones which are too tight around the calf and bunch up behind the knee ... annoying. i might well be going for assos next time round to (hopefully) ensure something just right0 -
It's not 11 speed - so last season daaahling!
Yup, I can see those catching on in 4th cat races - big stack at the first corner, a little 'crunch' and yer mech is toast!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Did I understand the web site correctly? You can make monthly payments on a rear
derailleur?

The big off-putter with the Lightweight stuff is, for me, the fact that the logo looks like it was designed by the Boss' 6 year old son when he got his first word processor and found how to change the font.
Oh, and the fact it is f****** ridicululously expensive. Nearly forgot about that one.0
