Podcasts for spinning / turbo / roller work?

Does anyone know if these exist anywhere? I don't have access to iTunes at the moment to check.

I usually use podrunner.com podcasts but it's a bit tedious sticking to the same RPM (BPM) for an hour - I know they're recently started doing variable BPM podcasts too, but it'd be good to get something a little more bike / spinning / turbo / roller-specific which guides you through a warm-up, hard middle section and warm down (for example), like if you were in a spinning class with an instructor shouting at you!

Anyone got anything worth sharing or know of a podcast that already exists?

I haven't tried any of them so let me know if you think they are any good.

Hey guys..just posted this over in the general podcast thread. There is also a review on ynotthrive.

There are actually plenty of cycling podcasts in iTunes. Or at least ones that have music, like indiesouprunner or cadence revolution. I also make some which you can find there if you search for "The Sufferfest." There are also some which are not in iTunes, like TriHarder by Jamie Morton. You can find a listing at my site, http://www.thesufferfest.com. I'm working on a review of the cycling video podcast at iFitGourmet right now. Cheers, David McQuillen

  • Hey David,

I have just downloaded the three Sufferfest video podcasts onto my itunes. I'm really impressed with them. They're interesting to watch and pack in a great workout in a shortish period of time. I've just played through number three and can't wait to try it out later this afternoon as I have a turbo session planned. Mind you, it looks bloody hard work - just what I need to keep off those extra pounds we all seem to put on in the winter! I've subscribed to the podcasts so am looking forward to receiving more in the future, although I think the three I already have will keep me amused for sometime to come. Keep up the good work mate.
To everyone else on the forum, check these out ...highly recommended.

    Graham.

Thanks, Graham. I'm really glad you like them. They're good fun to make...although time consuming...but it's really nice to hear some feedback. I just did number 3 for the second time last night...it is freaking hard work if you really go for it!!!. Anyway, I'm working on number 4 now...probably done with it next week. It's going to be a simple, brutish one...

  • have emailed the link home and will get on that tonight. I was going to go jogging to add a bit of variety.
  • Did number three. An absolute beast! A great workout and the best thing of all is that because the tempo is contantly changing and there is interesting video footage to keep you motivated, the session seemed to go really quickly. 55 minutes actually felt like 55 minutes rather than 4 hours!

  • Just downloading them as we speak. Can you burn them onto a dvd to play on the widescreen?

hey - i guess you could burn them on dvd, you'd just have to have the right software. i set them up at a resolution and framerate that works best on ipods. not sure how well it will look on a big screen television, since i haven-t tried it...hadn-t really thought of that, actually, since i just strap my ipod to my handlebars and have at it.

hey guys, take a picture of yourself doing a sufferfest workout and ill post it at the site.

  • David, just did podcast 3, it had me sweating like a pig, I enjoyed everything about it. I banged up the resistance for the climbs and just made it to the end before the HRM went into meltdown :D , great music, looking forward to doing the others.
    Cheers

Hey guys, I just finished up Sufferfest 4. Have a look and let me know what you think. Also, if you haven't tried out Jamie Morton's new audio podcast workout (I think it's number 27), give it a try - really freaking hard, and at 55minutes, is a nice longer one.
