Don't really watch any of the British stuff at the moment, so I'd definitely go with Two and a Half Men as the number one for me. Big Bang Theory is also very entertaining.
British comedies I have enjoyed in the past include The New Statesman and Time Gentlemen Please.0 -
Funniest U.K-
Porridge (R.B roolz)
Open all Hours (G-G-G-Great)
Peep Show
Fawlty Towers (don't mention the War/Grand-daughter)
The Royle Family (lost count of the amount of repeats I've watched)
Funniest U.S-
Malcolm in the Middle (absolute genius)
The Simpsons (as long as they're not political)0 -
Father Ted, Allo' Allo'
Awesome.0 -

Why 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' hasn't been mentioned yet is bizzare. The first series of 'Green Wing' and 'League of Gentlemen'; the second series were too dark to be funny.
'Spitting Image' and 'The Muppets'
'Not the Nine O'Clock News' and 'The Fast Show'
'The Two Ronnies' - loads of really clever word play.
I can't remember the title of Harry Hills 2 sketch-style series Essentially the same show repeated over the 2 series, but they left me with sore sides and gasping for air every week.
Some excellent choices there, though I enjoyed all 3 League of Gentlemen series all the same. As for The Fast Show, hmm, you know, marvellous, wasn't it?
Harry's C4 series was just 'Harry Hill' before hopping over to ITV for 'The All-New Harry Hill Show'.
To the above I'd add most of Reeves & Mortimer's output. Also been watching the Mitchell & Webb re-runs on BBC4 lately, some good stuff in there including the scarily accurate daytime quiz parody that is Numberwang.

Highly recommended, yet bafflingly tucked away late at night in the C4 schedules.

I've also got a DVD of a very early Mitchell & Webb series which includes a series of small sketches based around proof readers who work at a 'jazz' mag! Brilliant!Expertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/
