Which comedies make you laugh?
I'll go for Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf and Peep Show as the best British ones.
US-wise I like 3rd Rock from the Sun. Er, does this + Red Dwarf make me a geek? Well, if you say yes then pot, kettle black 'cos we're all on a web forum !
Check this "comedy" out if you speak frog: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uBhnhJ12oAI Believe it or not, this merde makes people laugh en France. I used to suffer it when I had a French girlfriend. Painful

it ain't half hot mum0 -
You haven't heard of green wing? My fave has to be father ted0
-
nope, never heard of green wing
Duty Free - just cos it's on at the minute0 -
Pretty much anything either Graham Linehan or Chris Morris have been involved in. That's a hell of long list, so highlights are Partridge, Father Ted and Brass Eye.0
-
Yes Minister/Prime Minister although as my major client is the Govt I feel that its more a documentary rather then a comedyThere's no time for hesitating.
Pain is ready, pain is waiting.
Primed to do it's educating.0 -

Can't believe I overlooked these... wow, happy memories come flooding back!0 -
Bremner, Bird and Fortune are bitingly funny.
I like Big Bang as well - geeky to the max :!:
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0 -
Majorly geeky but the I.T. Crowd is one of my favourites. New series starts on Friday.Winner: PTP Vuelta 20070

The Goon Show! I'm still trying to collect all the episodes on CD.
Why 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' hasn't been mentioned yet is bizzare. The first series of 'Green Wing' and 'League of Gentlemen'; the second series were too dark to be funny.
'Spitting Image' and 'The Muppets'
'Not the Nine O'Clock News' and 'The Fast Show'
'The Two Ronnies' - loads of really clever word play.
I can't remember the title of Harry Hills 2 sketch-style series Essentially the same show repeated over the 2 series, but they left me with sore sides and gasping for air every week.A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -
On the radio: bue jam.
On TV: Day Today, Brasseye, the Alan Partridge series and Darkplace. Peep show is up there with monkey dust not far behind. Not the Nine O'Clock News is very good too.0 -
Blackadder 2 ..... Nursey! I like it firm and fruityPowered by Haribo.0

Slackbladder 2, 3 & 4. Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister, Father Ted, (was in Ireland when Dermot Morgan died, no idea why I mention that) Scrubs used to be watchable, green wing never was. Never heard of peep show, I will have a shufty for it later.
I cant watch Only Fools anymore, its on every frigging night and has been worn out. Im from London and am obviously not the League of Gentlemens target audience, might as well have been made by the Coen bros!
Love they neighbour, "pinky ponky I am a honky". Why dont they show re runs of that then? Till death us do part was also great, probably wont ever be shown ever again either0 -
I enjoy Open All Hours, Red Dward, Only Fools and Horses.
Here in Spain, there are only 1 or 2 decent comedies I enjoy watching. If you can understand Spanish, "Aída" is definitely one of the best.0 -
I'd have to recommend
SPACED
COUPLING (the first 3 series are the best) "I've got too many legs!"
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT0 -

+1 for Spaced (groundbreaking format) and Coupling. Geoff was the star of that show.Expertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/

Having been such a fan of Spaced I was very disappointed with 'Shaun of the dead'. I just didn't find it all that funny. It seemed like a pale imitation of an overlong spaced episode. :?
Yep Jeff was 'brilliant'
STEVE: Jeff, Jeff, I know about the giggle loop, the sock gap, the nudity buffer, and what you said to Audrey Watkins. Believe me, there is nothing you can possibly say that will surprise me. What’s gone wrong this time?
JEFF: I’ve got too many legs.

i was a big father ted fan - but right now I am into some of the american stuff - in particular:
2 and a half men - charlie sheen's greatest role - and scrubs - both on paramount comedy at the moment0 -
I can't believe that nobody's mentioned Keeping Up Appearances
Er, wait a minute, yes I can.0 -
In no real order:
The Inbetweeners ("That sounded just a little bit rapey")
Phoenix Nights (Toby Foster (Les from LesAlanos) does the breakfast Show on Radio Sheffield)
Coupling (currently being badly dubbed by the French and branded as "Six Sexy")
Partridge
Gavin & Stacey (Quality writing and Rob Brydon is a legend)
Marion & Geoff (Rob Brydon is a legend)
In terms of stand up:
Peter Kay
Ross Noble
Jimmy Carr (though I don't like him on TV)
And general geniuses of comedy:
Ali G
John Cleese
Steve Coogan
Ricky Gervais
Also, even though I've seen every episode at least thrice, I'm not afraid to say I love Friends, and it's probably the greatest show in it's genre (I call it a sitcom) for the last 20 years.0 -
Forgot to mention Jack Dee too. And Whose Line Is It Anyway - not the US version though.0
-
Men Behaving Badly
Office
Spaced"BEER" Proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy0 -
Paul Calf Video Diary
The League of Gentlemen
Alan Partridge
Jacque Tati 'Je de Fete' Has a wonderful cycling sequence in it. One of my favourite films.0 -
+1 for Spaced & Green Wing. We watched them on DVD with the kids when they were 11 and 13 and they have become firm family favourites.
We all also really enjoyed "Jour de Fete", especially the cycling.
Further back, Blackadder was inspired and some of Dad's Army (the characters more than the storylines) is timeless human comedy.
I'm off to find out more about Peep Show, as I have never heard of it.0 -
Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps.
And the best line in any show.
