Jackass...

Overtook a pie eater last night on the way home at considerable speed. Got caught at lights on a nasty junctions so waited with my arm against the traffic light, at the front of the queue, to save me un-clipping or having to track stand. Pie eater simply goes passed me and waits at the end of the pavement - me in amazement as I have just overtaken the fat, sack of lard and I am clearly going to be an awful lot quicker (And queue jumping is rude!). He now cannot see when the lights change as he is too far forward. I go, as can see the lights, pie eater hears me and goes too, but is slow on the pedals and drifts into the road making my overtake more difficult - so I call him a Jackass in a normal voice as I go by. Anyway, pie eater goes nuts - calls me a pr1ck, m*therf*cker all sorts - thick, salad dodging tw*t has not clocked the kids and parents on the pavement next to him (and probably does not care) - Anyway, I dissapear off into the night and just hear a huge row behind me, I can only assume it to be the parents berating the tw*t for his language in front of the kids. Hopefully, I will see him again tonight - I am going to have immense fun winding him up and dissapearing from now on.

    Don't put him off...

Maybe he's just new to the game- first time out of his car for a while, looking to get a bit fitter, not cognisant of the prevailing culture. If he doesn't usually ride in traffic he may not know how to do so.

Instead of winding him up, encourage him. Might be one less car to dodge next month.

    Cheers,
    W.

Hmm - Lacking in common sense, I would say, and basic etiquette. I have seen him about a bit, but never paid much attention as he is going so slow. I think I would prefer him to be in a car and not associated to cyclists.

My pet hate is queue jumping at lights....especially when said queue jumper has been overtaken.
  • Nah, billocks, he is an offensive agressive moron and does not merit kind encouragement.

Isn't that one of the biggest complaints drivers have with filtering cyclists?
  • WHy dont you play with his front wheel and a metal. Can you see how Im thinking.

Hate slow people when they cut in front of you. bit like people walking in the high street, you just want to smack them in the back of the head.

It's not just fat people in general you have a problem with, right?

Only when they complain that they cannot conceive, go for medical help (IVF) and are told to simply lose weight to help themselves, but instead decide to complain to the papers about the NHS and think it is "un-reasonable" to be asked to lose weight before treatment is considered....

    Or cycle like tw*ts.

Otherwise - I don't give a damn. The fatness of the chap is not the point anyway....
  • I don't get why people are in such a rush on their cycle commutes, I mean, you get to work earlier and spend less time on the bike! I'd rather take my time and enjoy the ride :D
  • What constitues a "pie eater" then? I'm no wippet at 17.5 stone  , I am cyclist, a rugby player etc. I am courtous to all as a cyclist (but not on the Rugby pitch  ) and I think you would like me.

Would you think of me as a "pie eater" as you overtake me on my commute?

I think you encountered an inexperienced cyclist who got a bit cross when you had a go. Why can't we all just love each other!

Or am I being a bit sensitive about my size???

  • Wasnt that an opening line to a song. Despite what I have sort of agreed to I do think fair play when I see a larger framed person on a bike. At least they are making an effort not to be a statistic at the end of the day.

  • that's not a pie that's a cake, a proper pie is steak and kidney and gravy by the boat.

I only bought one, and I did eat all of it. It was only little.
  • I do like me pie's (that's where I'm going wrong then!) I must say. They have to be vegetarian though! Mince pies are ok I think.
  • Where can I get a good pork pie in London? Does such a place exist?
  • dont think so. Will ask the mrs's for you she is from up north and has a habit of finding the best of anything to do with food

    now here's a proper topic for a thread - pie-eating.

Fact: pies are the food of the gods
Issue: but which pies are the first among equals?

I'm going to put pork pies to one side - they are clearly magnificient but in a different category (really a different food group) to

    a) steak and kidney as suggested by woody. The traditional option and no worse for that.
    b) chicken and mushroom - nice for a change but doesn't really punch the full meaty button
    c) cheese and onion - one for the vegies
    d) turkey and asparagus - bit poncy but good
    e) steak and guinness - ooooh, now you're talking

    peckish, moi?

    Yes, yes you are....

Pie is good in moderation - this guy clearly did not moderate - I have no issue with people with large frames who are fit and fast, but simply fat, slow and queue jumping is gonna, frankly, f*ck me off - particulary on my way home when I have overtaken cleanly.

Sounds like the guy was a dickhead but you're the one who stuffed (ahem) your original post full of references to his weight.
