So who is actually signed up for this? Obviously, if I was in the "in-crowd", I'd know who you all were when i look at the registrations, but "Attica" and "CJCP" weren't on the list
I'll be heading up the "slow" group. I shall endeavour to walk up NO hills, have fun and finish before everyone's gone home for tea....Emerging from under a big black cloud. All help welcome0 -
Attica = Rob Armstrong (shhh, not many people know that)
oops"Impressive break"

For the record I think I am rider 872 out of 1001 but people usually call me Tim. I haven't checked the rider list to see if there are more than one T's on the list[1]Ribble winter special

Unfortunately on the day we all will be, with a fetching little plastic coated number plate and a techy timing dongle according to the site
The offer of the padded van will be good on the day cos my ar$e will be very grateful. Probably in the TMI category however[1]Ribble winter special

http://www.mapmyride.com/route/bs/biggi ... 1060418142
I have mapped the route so we can see what we are up against (literally)
I hope I have done it right and if you can see all my private information then "oops" (don't think I've told mapmyride any secrets so we should be okay
PS I am most amused to see that mapmyride thinks that Biggin Hill is in the Bahamas
PPS I have obviously just revisited the website to find that the last hour of my life has been entirely wasted because it's all been done for us.

He GAVE you his Ribble? What did you do for him?

He's saying have this fab road bike and give it a go...!
I have a suitable training route for you
Chingford-.Loughton->Robin Hood Rbout->High Beech->Lippits Hill->Sewardstone Road->Mansfield Hill (if you want a real challenge do it in reverse!!!!)
Then build it up till you can do it 6 times. It's what I'll be doing providing Seven Sisters Rd don't get me mid week until February.
Sorry - only just seen these replies
I told him I was after a road bike for my mid-life crisis He said he had a winter trainer that needed some work that he was about to get rid of It needed about £200 of work - bottom bracket, just about everything that the frame touched, seat post, saddle etc but the LBS still reckon it was a v good deal so I'm pleased. Just need to get out on it a bit - it's very light so a bit skitty for me in cross winds and I need to get more confidence but as I don't like a wet behind I'm not to keen on taking it out on wet roads
Back on topic - and to pick up DiggingDepper's point, I'm not a big fan of hills, though the ribble handles them a 100x better than the hybrid - but I need to overcome my fear so may well try the route suggested (but perhaps when its a bit warmer eh??? )
Good luck to all of those taking part. I'm most impressedPain is only weakness leaving the body0
