Hey mate, i just ride single tracks, bridalways from O/S maps really. just make big 10-15mile loops at the moment. I do one round Rudson abit since its only up the road and you can start from Bridlington (where i live of course). Think there would be a few interesting ones to be made round North Dalton, Wetwang and Fridaythorpe. Also quiet a few around scarborough and that way on.
If you want, and weather depending of course, your welcome to join me.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

Yea i know where you mean, when i had my old hardtail i used to regulaly do 20 - 30 miles aroung wetwang, sledmere, brid and so on but now iv only got my full suss,(signiture) those distances are a bit harder so im trying to find anywhere with even roughly built trails. no luck obviously.
Used to go around brid seafront with friends years ago, just for the steps and walls but it soon got a bit boring and i prefer a good ride.

Have a look here, they have a lot of North Yorkshire riders and a good route section as well as a very friendly membership.

aye, i know what you mean. I ride a Spec' full sus myself, i find farm trails (bridalways) alot more enjoyable when its rough. But for real stuff, the thing either Dalby/cropton forest/trails on the moors will work the bikes more. I did from Brid > flamborough lighthouse > Bempton cliffs and then back down Bempton road via a bridalway last week, although it was fun, it was alittle annoying with all the steps and gates.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

Cheers, looks a good site! Just after riding with people regularly really I've heard Guisborough, etc is pretty good too.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

That sound quite interesting, what bike do you have? iv riden up and around flanborough before but the annoying thing is is that its is mostly public footpaths so you cant ride properly. there is a very small quarry outside Driffield which i have built a few jumps and drops in but nothing permenant as its about 20 yards off the road in a field so were not technicaly allowed in there. We have thought of asking the farmer but dont know who owns the land there.
I agree though, Dalby is the only real place and it is absoloutly fantasic (I know my way around blinfolded nearly) around here but as i am not able to drive yet its not realy an option unless the parents can give me a lift and thats not very often.

I ride a 2008 Specialized SX Trail. It doesn't really like much road biking! lol. I thought the same about biking on the cliff tops, you can never ride it properly. As for a travelling, i have my own car so it won't be an issue if you wanted to go riding sometime, or we could just start in Driff and go out to Wetwang or something. Easy to find a few routes really.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

Ah my dream bike! same with mine though, after a while the tyres wear down realy quick and drag like hell. Well unfortunatly im only 17 so im just saving up for lessons and a car, no more spending on pointless but desperatly wanted bike stuff .
Send me a PM if you want and il try and point out the places i know of around me.

its difficult to get lost. very well signposted and plenty of other riders going in the same direction. If someone is going up they usually post a thread. Hopefully i'll be going up again soon with a couple of guys from work2014 Whyte T-129S0 -
I did a loop near Warter starting in Givendale couple of weeks ago. It was bit boggy in the wet but would be good during the dry months. Am trying to find more routes around his area, instead of travelling afar in the winter time. I was at Dalby last Friday night with my bro, it was a good laugh in the dark, especially on Halloween.....0

exactly, although i've heard places like Guisborough and Stainburn are pretty good places. But its always nice to find places to go just when you got a few hours or just fancy a ride somewhere close to home.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

Do you do the way marked route then, or still take in the old ones? Thinking of going there again tomorrow night to do about 12-15 mile on bits of the red route.0 -
if both of you every fancy meeting up for a ride, drop me a PM.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

I usually tend to do the waymarked routes. Sometimes mix and match the black and red. Have done some of the older trails but when organised by someone who knows them.
Will do that Matt, might help me get out more!0 -

No gates to lock at the Thornton le Dale end, we have been twice in two weeks with no problems getting out. There were at least another 15 or so bikers there on Friday night along with the same number doing a spot of star gazing....???0 -

Get some of them torches from tescos, cant beat them for the price, work wonders. I just tie-wrap them to the stem and one on my helmet. Magic
Cant beat a bit of night riding round dalby, hopefully there again this Friday.0 -
Hey,
Anyone no of anything worth riding around Cottingham, don't have access to a car so rides need to start in Cottingham. Would love to go over to Dalby but can't see a way of getting over there.
Thanks0
