Hi There

Though the sun's still shining (once in a while), and the season isn't (really) over untill november, the end of all fun is near. Best start planning next year's fun now, and hope for a short Winter.

I'd really like to start cycling again in February next year. Does anyone know of any existing groupe-arrangements for cyclists in the neighbourhood of Nice, or maybe southern Spain in the period 14/2 to 22/2 2009? I like mountains.

Thank's,
Wibe Balt, Groningen, Holland.

I assume you are still training over the winter?
    Legs, lungs and lycra.

Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Hi - one of my favourite places for winter training is Spain's Costa Blanca. The pro teams normally go there due to the quality of the roads, the mild weather and the great routes with plenty of climbing to suit all abilities. Speaking personally, it has a lot more to offer than Majorca.

Check out the cycling holidays and the training camps at www.ciclocostablanca.com, I believe Dave Lloyd is also running coaching camps there in March.
  • Thanks for the quick reply! I posed this question on a Dutch forum. Not one answer. (...)

I try to do some running in winter. But I like my bike better. Due to the leaves and road salt (grit?), wich are a true menace the derailleurs, chain etc., I am a bit reluctant though.

I'm not training for competition, so I really need something to look forward to, to focus on. Last year I went to the Maritime Alpes in february. This was super. 5 days, 110 km each day, up and down, wondering why I was doing this, up and down, again the wondering, and finally after 6 hours of hard work the best feeling ever. Great weather conditions and a superb beginning of the season.

I'll do some research on the Costa Blanca and Majorca. Thanks again!

    W.
