Ball of Foot Pain

I have a soreness/pain in the ball of my foot, which has got worse and worse gradually over months. It's now at the point where I'm limping, and have a doctors appointment tomorrow.

The only exercise I'm doing more of is cycling, and so was wondering if anyone has noticed anything similar? Possibly due to strain on tendons/joint?

I'm hoping its just a pedal positioning issue and nothing more 'major' (arthritis/stress fracture etc).

Thanks.

Sounds like hotfoot to me . :(

Can i ask what shoe's you have ?

I had this problem several years ago and it didn't develop until i started to spend more time on the bike like it seems your doing. I bit the bullet and spent double the amount of money on shoes than i had previously and the pain disappeared.

If it is hot foot then you have my sympathy it can be painful :(

Not sure what hot-foot is, but a trip to a podiatrist seems to have pinpointed the problem, and it probably IS cycling related.
Due to my legs not being on straight (!), and therefore tight tendons on the top of my foot (high arch, toes elevated slightly), added to shorter, stronger calf muscle from cycling which has exaserbated the problem, my toe joing has 'dropped', thus causing a sore joint.

Absolutely fascinating watching the podiatrist work it all out. So, shoe insoles are the answer, and much more stretching of the calf muscles. And I thought I had arthritis or a broken bone!
