Looking at getting a Tricross Sport for commuting

I have had a Tricross sport for 2 years now. Generally speaking it's a great commuter and I'm well pleased with it. As far as problems are concerned:

    1) My model has a fairly alarming tendency to judder under heavy front braking. Takes a bit of getting used to, and I understand from the dealer that this is a bit of a known issue on these bikes. They may have sorted it out since though.

    2) There's a bit of an annoying creak from the bottom-bracket area. I've changed BB and pedals, but creak is still there. Suspect it's to do with the crank (that's about the only thing left it can be) - but it looks like they've changed that whole area since I bought mine.

    3) Mine had stupid little subsidiary brake levers on the handlebar flats. They had to go, replaced by barrel adjusters.

But it's robust, comfortable, relatively fast and eats the miles. If it got nicked I'd buy another one.

I don't see why people don't like these. Sure, if you never ride on the tops, or are a weight weenie, I understand, but if not then they're great. When I got my Trek in 2005 I asked for them to be installed and was and am still delighted I have a second braking option to go with my various hand position options. And they brake absolutely fine too.

The 2009 bike has these, I thought that they were a good extra to have.
