Think I've trapped a nerve or hurt a tendon in my hip - I've a dull, tired sort of ache in the joint and my thigh feels kinda dead. I think it was inflicted doing a DIY catflap installation into a wall ie: lots of sitting/standing transitions and bending at odd angles while working with heavy tools. I've taken the past couple of days off the bike but it's no better (well, maybe a bit). Should I go see a sawbones?

I'll lob this in here too

My knee has started to hurt today.... (well yesterday doing burpies) but I've got a nagging suspicion it's due to my fixed riding

I only spin like a loon on downhills the one proper up hill is reasonably quick and doesn't need me to stand so I could remove a few teeth to lessen the cadence if needs be. but on the flats my cadence is ok although it's a guess 80-90 maybe? probably less

what's the official leg distance to pedal measure?

does braking using legs affect your joints?

    why only one knee damnit?

could of course be coincidence

I have no ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) in my left knee.

I also have apparently acquired bad posture in my legs?? (Seeing physio about this, though they tell me I have to do physio for the rest of my life).

    I keep dislocating my fingers/toes.

My shoulders tear at even just the sight of work.

Thats all the significant ones really.

I broke the same toe a bunch of times in fairly quick succession, and now it hurts if i stand on my tipitoes. Its not my fault....rocks keep jumping in the way of my peddles.

Also got a pile  for the first time not long ago...that really sucked.

    Asthma.

Hasn't bothered me seriously for years.

Then last month we acquire two kittens and bam - it's like 3500km of slowly improving fitness is gone overnight.

    I wheeze. Lots.

    This thread is great!

I feel better just reading about you poor bastards and your afflictions.

Now does anyone have erectile dysfunction? Me - not a chance - "Big Greg" is a soldier and serves me well, but if anyone else is suffering it would make me feel even better.

I dont have a erectile dysfunction, but i cant have kids? is that any good to you?

Im used to people taking the p*ss out of me for it tbh. Ever since one of my previous employers annonced it to the whole company in the past.

(I was depressed when i got the news, they took me aside and asked why as it was effecting my work, I told them and next day every f*cker knew).

I reckon it's when you scalp more than are scalped. Or remain neutral.

You are only ever fit for what you do though - by measurements I am as fit as a flea, and I can get up any old hill eventually on a bike, but I still can't run for a bus without feeling like I might diie

Serves you right for being such a fashion victim.

I've heard that if you try to cycle in high heels, it puts pressure on your lower back.

I'm off sick - just a nasty cold, and already getting better - and I really fancy a ride, especially since I just ate the world's biggest bacon sandwich (It is "feed a cold", isn't it?). Would a gentle 10 miles be appropriate or a bad idea?

@biondino if you only feel it in the head a gentle cycle will be fine. If you feel it in the body, rest up, you can do yourself permanent harm by exercising in that condition.

You wuss, 2 days off for a cold. Better take tomorrow off, don't want to rush back and have a relapse.

I did go for a ride, it was fine though a couple of complete losses of energy when I pushed it a bit hard. 11 miles around Putney, Southfields and Wandsworth. Nice.

I think most colds like being taken out on a little adventure. When it gets to the chest so it hurts to breathe in, that's when it hurts to be on a bike.

I still do it though :)

Okay, my cold has cleared up - or so I thought - today I have annoying blocked sinuses and resulting headache. I can feel what seems like a vacuum in there (though it's probably the opposite). What's the best way of clearing them and hopefully my headache as well?

I did not know that a dilute mix of granny and kiddie pee mixed with chlorine was a great decongestant.

Hee! I'd love to go swimming actually but I swim like a girl - breaststroke, head out of water etc. I can go on forever, mind, but I'd be a bit embarrassed if I did a triathlon like that.

Grrr, normally the sun would be lovely but it's just the kind of headache that doesn't appreciate it at all.

Haha it would be pretty cool if I had been off work since last Wednesday with manflu! I am at work, thanks, and an ibuprofen has sorted me out to an extent.

If you are injured the only thing to do is REST. The fact you cannot feel it when you ride means nothing. Put your leg up for a week.

I agree. Bondio, put your head up. Particularly your sinuses.

I have had 2 colds this year and they have both lasted for ages. Got over the initial cold quite quickly, but then like you say, the blocked sinuses and constant sniffles just don't seem to go away.

I like to eat something with lots of garlic and chili's to help sort it out.

Bondio? I'm not some kind of south american spy/dog food, you know :)

I had a marvellously spicy mexican lunch, so maybe that helped. Certainly my nose got into the spirit of things rather over-enthusiastically!
