Do you mean this beauty, with this spec:
Frame: Alpha Black Aluminum w/externally relieved head tube, hydroformed bi-axial down tube and top tube, monostay seatstays, forged disc ready dropouts

Front Derailleur: Shimano SLX
Shifters: Shimano SLX, 9 speed
Chainset: Shimano SLX 44/32/22
Freewheel: SRAM PG970 11-34, 9 speed
Headset: VP-A58ACT-TK, 1 1/8" w/alloy cups, semi -cartridge bearings, sealed
Stem: Bontrager SSR, 10 degree, 31.8mm
Handlebars: Bontrager Race Riser, 40mm rise, 650mm width
Front Brake: Shimano SLX 180mm
Rear Brake: Shimano SLX 160mm
Brake Levers: Shimano SLX
Rims: Bontrager SSR
Front Hub: Bontrager sealed front hub
Rear Hub: Shimano M525 SL rear hub

Me personaly, I wouldn't upgrade the bike for a whole year. Maybe next year I'll change the Recon to Reba 2010 because this fork doesn't have motion control. Other upgrades: small ones, like better tires (if they are bad), carbon handlebars and seatpost........
Weight should be between 11 and 12 kg I think.

Thats the bike i was thinking of some new hope brakes but if you think the slx are fine then i will stick with them for now.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/ ... CF5579.jpg

The motion control your talking about is that the pop loc ? it wasnt fitted on the display model it better come with 1 as i dont fancy spending £50 buying 1.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/ ... CF5579.jpg

Motion Control is the high end damping system on short travel Rock Shox forks - your forks have it."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

As mentioned above, apart from parts to tailor the fot and comfort (and tyres), don't think about upgrades yet - or most likely you have bought the wrong bike.0

The Trek 6700 (2009 edition) has the Motion Control because all the Rock Shox Recon Race have the Motion Control. It's noted on the SRAM website : http://www.sram.com/en/rockshox/crossco ... econ/#tab1
On the Trek website, you can see the "Motion COntrol" logo on the fork : http://www.trekbikes.com/images/bikes/2 ... itered.jpg
Appologies fo my English but I'm a french speaking user.0 -

I just got the 2009 6700 and it is awesome, feels fantastic and light, really wouldnt have thought u would need to upgrade it? if u want a better bike perhaps u need to get the 8000 or 8500 or something?0

exactly what he said!
edit: I don't understand how you can order a new bike wishing it had different parts. Why order it if its not what you want?0 -
Where did you get your 6700, and how much did it cost? I checked one out t'other day but they only had it in 17.5" Having that problem with most of the bikes/shops I've checked out locally.Welcome, to my bonesaw!0

I was quite intereted in getting one of these but the 08 got a terrible review:

The main concern seems to be the long stem. Perhaps this has been rectified for 09. Lovely loking bike, that's for sure.
How would people rate this bike against a Rockhopper Pro Disc or Kona Kula?Giant Trance X 2010

Thats what everyone says oh the stem is to long when i saw the 09 in the shop i thought the stem was fine i never saw the 08 model but how much realy is a good stem £40/50 quid . Nowt realy I also dont plan on any upgrades anytime soon on the bike now the amount of nappys my little boy uses will cripple me. I see our savings going down & down by the day.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/ ... CF5579.jpg

you can get a perfectly good stem 2nd hand for a fiver, or a decent new one for 20."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

The above review highlights not only the stem, it says:
"The already rigid and racy frame is made even less comfortable by bruising bar and grips, you’ll need different tyres for at least half the UK year and the stem desperately needs changing if you’ve any interest in singletrack."
So that's bar, grips, stem and tyres, simply to make the bike fit for purpose, not really what you want when you're spending £950...Giant Trance X 2010

Bars & stem have been changed on the 09 model tyres are the same tho.
Anyway i cant wait to make the final payment in late oct to get my brand new bikehttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/ ... CF5579.jpg

Cool, I quite fancy one of these myself now.
When you say late October, is that because there's a waiting list?Giant Trance X 2010

Probably fit for a purpose it wasn't designed for ie racy XC. Sometimes you have to make a few changes to tailor to you.
Good stems are peanuts - why people spend 50 quid on them I just don't know!0 -
Evans lists this bike as having Juicy 3's? Which is it, Juicys or Shimanos, any1 know for sure?0
-
Evans lists this bike as using juicy 3s? seen a few pics aswell showing it with the juicys0
-
At the official web of Trek it says that 6700 has Juicy 3's, and on the pictures the bike is also with Juicy 3's. :?
If you buy that bike by mail, call or e-mail them to confirm with what brakeset comes.0 -
Hi ,
yeah I have noticed the tires to be a bit suspect on it.
Sonic, any good recommendations of what to swap to ?
Many thanks0
