Getting "Hill Fit"

I've set out a route that's 30 miles long and has 1460ft of climbing. Some of the hills are 1.5 miles at 3.5%. The maximum is a 6% but only about 1/2 mile. The rest is undulating.
I've ridden this route over the last two days, and have felt very good - even into headwinds and drizzle.
I don't know if this is really alot of climbing, but it seems like it to me! Will this type of route be enough to increase my hill fitness? What I mean by that is the ability to be able to attack hills - I definately just spin up them at anything from 8 - 14mph.

If the ride is challenging at the moment and you keep doing it every couple of days and put in the effort you will find it getting easier over the next few weeks/months. By definition you will be getting fitter17 Stone down to 12.5 now raring to get back on the bike!0
