When to take it easy?

Been following a slightly different training plan for the last 5 weeks involving some intense interval sessions (inclusing redline fartlek sessions) and i'm starting to feel very tired in the legs. I ride about 5 times a week and only do 2 interval sessions and 1 long hard ride (4hrs) on the weekend. During the week i commute and do the interval sessions on the way home (12-17miles) and take it easy(ish) in the morning (12 miles).

Is my fatigue a normal consequence of upping my training intensity (i'm not doing more miles than before - just more/harder intervals) or should i take it easy for a while?

i'm doing the southern sportive in 2 weeks time and i'm not sure whether to have another hard and then taper next week or if i've been overtraining and should rest more now.

i'd be grateful for any advice, thanks

Mikey

why not just take 3 days off? your not gonna loose fitness or anything.. I know its hard to stay off the bike but you will kick youself for not listening to your body
