180 pounds for the Variado frame and a Focus Carbon fork(carbon steerer-370 grams-steerer uncut) . I think it's decent price.

I own an '08 Variado and I love it. Its probably one of the best value bikes available. Most other 105 groupset bikes are a heck of a lot more expensive.

The only downside is you cannot sit on one before you buy. The ride postition is a little aggressive which is great if you like that sort of thing. Personally I found it a bit too much at first, I changed the bars for FSA compact omega's and that made it good for me.

Apart from the rear wheel going out of true within the first 50 miles, which I suppose is par for the course, I've had no issues.

oh actually, one last thing, the standard saddle is a torture instrument. I plan on changing mine as soon as I can spare the cash.

The saddle on mine is a Concept SL that matches the Concept SL stem and seatpost on the bike. I think Concept must be Focus' own brand of bits or rebadged other brand I dunno, cant find any information about them on the interwebnets.

Is this frame good enough for my local bike races ? I have a Campy Centaur groupset and Fsa RD-600 wheels. A also found a Merida frame but I find the Variado better. I would like the Culebro frame but the bike stores doesn't sell it separately.
lance armstrong could turn up on a £50 tesco mountain bike and win a local race , so the focus frame will be excellent

Thanks for the advices. So the frame is good enough :D I'll take the next week to the lbs to see if they have a M size frame in red :)
  • Red, is of course, the fastest colour!

(Unless you are the world champion and ride a white Willier! Or Lance on a black Livestrong! etc.)

I've got an '08 Variado and I love it! That said, it's my first road bike, so what do I know - other than that it was a lot cheaper than other bikes with a similar spec and that seemed enough for me. I did get to try mine for size and feel before buying it as it's a fairly popular brand here in Denmark.

Like another poster here, I liked it so much that I bought a Focus MTB for the wife.
