Savoury energy food

Can anyone recommend some good savoury food for taking on a ride that's can provide a reasonable level of energy replacement?
Eventually all the cakes, biscuits, bars and sticky energy drinks get too much. I'd love to develop a scotch egg with good nutritional value and energy content!!

I always wonder why people recommend nuts. They are loaded up with protein and fat - virtually no carbohydrate at all, so exactly the wrong thing to eat on a ride, IMO.
How about making up some savoury sandwiches, cutting into squares and wrapping in silver foil?

What about savoury flapjacks?
* 1 egg
* 25g butter
* 75g grated cheese
* 70g porridge oats
All you need to do is mix the ingredients and press into an 8 inch tin. Then bake for about 30 to 40 minutes at 180 degrees until golden brown.
Once it's cool cut it into slices.
You could put whatever you what in them, marmite?0 -

that sounds quite nice scholars thanks. Matmite is just wrong though (although that's probably an argument for another thread).
Didn't think of sandwiches Ruth, thought they'd be a bit too big, but didn't think to cut down into smaller squares!0
