You should all support Weymouth imo.

I was down in Weymouth on Sunday, saw a few people wearing the shirt. I have a bit of a soft spot for Weymouth, and I've no idea why. I seem to like most southern clubs (that aren't in London or Aldershot). What is Weymouth's ground like? I might have to visit sometime this season, I'm always down in Poole at least twice a month.

I agree Jimmy. Sky and the big wages its generated don't match up to the hype. There is less identification with the 'superstar' foreign lineups than when there was a local connection.

What also galls a bit is the knowledge that there probably isn't any more commitment by footballers on big money to their sport than your average club racer.

I'm an Everton supporter so am worried about the start of the season due to the club being very unsettled and no new signings.
I'm not looking forward to it as much as I used to. Sky have killed the game and are only interested in the so called big four, Chelsea a big team? don't make me laugh.
It was weird last season when Everton were sitting in 4th place for quite a while the big four suddenly changed to the big 3. Sky don't want anyone to break into the top 4, the dice are loaded and the game's been ruined.
    Still... COYB
  • 15 days to go, Im nearing meltdown.

It's a grand old team to play for,
It's a grand old team to see,
    And if you your history,
It's enough to make your heart go whooa-oh,
We don't care what the other teams say,
What the hell do we care,
For we only know that there's gonna be a show
And the Tottenham Hotspur will be there.

Dont even think about it Jonesy10, its ours  I cant stand ManUre fans singing Glory Glory though.

    COYS!

I think it was Celtics wasn't it?
Anyhoo, our words are much better.

It's a grand old team to play for
It's a grand old team to support
and if you know your history
It's enough to make your heart go whoa oo
We don't care what the redshi*e say
What the fu*k do we care
Cause we only know that there's gonna be a show
and the everton boys will be there.

    The Everton (clap clap clap)

I'm actually getting a bit more excited about the start of the season.
I hope 1 of us breaks into the top 4 this year Stewie.
  • Jonesy10, I typed the polite version  Getting more excited? I have asked my manager if I can leave a bit earlier so that I can see us play Celtic in a poxy friendly on Sky later

If we dont do it Jonsey10 then I wouldnt have a problem with your mob breaking into the "big 4". It wont be the Toon or the Villa anyway.

Same hear mate, got a soft spot for the spurs, I sort of pretended to support them briefly when I was at junior school, I blame peer pressure oh, and also to stop me getting my everton bag thrown under the school bus every bloomin night.
It was when Chivers was centre forward. Showing my age somewhat.
My dad didn't talk to me much at that time.

I don't think the Magpies have got any chance at all, they maybe finish in the top half.
I like KK but can't stand their misguided supporters.

would you care to expand on that generalisation ?

we know before the season starts that we aren't going to win anything, so what's misguided about that ?

can't stand cockneys/scousers/generalisers meself like and you tick all the boxes

Sorry mate, didn't mean to offend. It WAS a generalisation, I should have said I think MOST barcode fans are misguided.

What makes you think I tick a cockney box?

Lost interest a few years ago - used to have a season ticket at Derby - even when I lived in Colchester - I now live in Derby again and get to about one or two games per season and that's when someone offers me a free ticket. Probably hypocritical of me as I used to be one but I can't help but look at dedicated fans as mugs - it's like someone devoting a large part of their lives to Sainsburys or Barclays Bank or some other business. Apart from anything else there is no atmosphere in any modern ground that can come anywhere close to an evening game at the Baseball Ground. Still crowds are up so they must be doing something right.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

Anyone else like me, struggling to give a toss about the new season?

I have been a fan of football all my days, but the greed and hype and money and exposure of the Premiership is killing my interest dead.

Even my conference team don't get me so excited nowadays and that is supposed to be 'real' football...

    :?
I couldn't agree more with Jimmythecuckoo's comments and I used to love the game. Now its all about the balance sheet, endless speculation and nonsense in the media. I mainly watched games in the eighties and early nineties and whilst those days certainly had their problems the game belonged to the fans.

And I can't watch games without being frustrated at the nonsense of players rolling around in agony - why do fans not boo their own players who do this? A cycling fan will jeer anyone who cheats regardless of whether they were once a hero.

I have truly fallen out of love with football.

And that was before Luton were docked 30 points!
  • We can whinge about it when Luton are playing Weymouth next season...

If we stay up of course.
  • TheHatter
    TheHatter Posts: 122
Yep I don't mind the thought of the conference - I'd prefer it to the club being bought by some gangster russian and filled with overpaid morally bankrupt *&%$.
(I could certainly never pay to see Newcastle knowing Barton was pocketing my hard - earned)

Shame Luton fans will have to sit though a pointless season first. And I just hope we're still in business long enought to play Weymouth! (its a nicer away destination than Wigan or Hull too!)

All Toon fans are misguided, just like all, Everton and Villa fans who all believe that this year, this time you can make the CL  .

Its OBVIOUSLY our time  . Surely everyone else can see that too? Did you see us spank Dortmund yesterday?

Unfortunately pre season counts for bugger all. Bent seems to be on fire atm, hope the results continue for you mate.
just for the record, Everton are probably the most pessimistic of all supporters so no chance of CL for us this season, I'd be happy with uefa cup place again though.

In answer to the Newcastle fan, as you probably already know, MOST NUFC fans think they have some god given right to be in a CL place because of a fantastic season a good few years back. you still like to maintain your a big club despite minimal success.
You see KK and Michael Owen as the Messiahs who will drag you back to your glory days of the 1930's I think it was.
You are a well supported club cause your the only club in the city though when you got relegated a few years back your attendances plummeted. Fickle and deluded.
That's my opinion and surely I'm entitled to it.

So why can't you stand scousers, cockneys and Generalisers, even though you seem to be generalising that all spurs fans are cockneys.

I'm a Scouser by birth but have lived down south since I was a boy. hate away matey.
  • Pre season means bugger all I know, I just hope it instills a bit of confidence in the team, winning/scoring goals being good habits and all that. Bent has a huge opportunity this year to establish himself and justify the silly amount of money that we paid for him.

Jonesy10, why are you selling Johnson? Is that a Moyes or Kenwright decision? You cant afford to pee Moyes off, losing him would set you back a couple of years at least.

The Toon, hhmm. Firstly, getting KK back in was a huge error IMO. The man is a fruitloop and will either lose his marbles again as Fergie made him do last time or he will run away when the going gets tough, again. Getting former greats in rarely works, I so wanted Hoddle to be our Messiah and lead us to the promised Land. But he didnt and we fired him. You are the only team in your City, which I agree is the only reason you pack your ground week in week out. Watch out for Sunderland this year too.

Anyway, you are all mad for supporting your rubbish teams, Spurs are the future :D ! Can you not see it? Are you all blind :? ?

Maybe its me then, after all I have believed it since I was 6 or 7 years old. My Dad is Spurs and his Dad was Spurs. Thats why I love Spurs and believe that we are Gods team and that everyone else has entered into a pact with the Devil.

    12 days to go :D

    Hi Stewie,
apparantly, AJ wants a transfer, Moyes doesn't want to sell anybody as our squad is small enough. Before the preston game a few weeks back Johnson told Moyes he wanted a transfer to Fulham so moyes dropped him from the team leaving Johnson having to get a taxi back to liverpool in his tracksuit!!!! funny eh?
I'm so worried atm that Moyes will get so pis*ed off with the lack of backing and funds that he'll walk. It's bad enough being currently under the shadow of that horrible lot across the park without Moyes walking.

actually we think Owen is a slow, injury prone, overpaid scouse get, we are quite ambivilent about Keegan, we don't think we have a god given right to the CL and I don't hate anyone, even you - I was taking the mick out of your stance you dope.

Davelakers, love to see PNE in the Prem. I know my Spurs history, our tribute to you being founder Members of the league, the first league winners and of course (as we should all know), the first team to do the double and do it undefeated. We wear Lilywhite in your honour.

Jonesey10, Looks like AJ will be on his way then. I have a Fulham mate who says that its not unusual for Fayed to renegotiate at the 11th hour due to old injuries. £6m up front I understand (the rumour mill) , doesnt give Moyes much to play with.

Indeed we were Stewie. I was discussing this matter of Spurs kit/nickname the other day with some friends. A mark of respect indeed!!

I notice the Arse attempted to grab the limelight a few years back when they finished the season unbeaten.

Been there, seen it, done it!!!
