heya, after 1 mile of cycling over some bumpy surfaces nothing over the top for my hardtail the peddels have started to creek and click on the rotations, hmmmmm , this has happened on a few sets of peddals and i thought these would be good enough :( ,, can i replace the shaft inside with a stronger one ? maybe with a diamond peddel ahah, thanks

Very odd - have you tried injecting the grease ports till they're almost bursting?

DMR pedals will take a lot of abuse - more than what you describe!!

    V12's are sealed, no ports.

That does sound odd, i'd just take them back to where you got them. I've just done over 20miles on mine, and other than ravaging my shins and calfs they are still happy as larry.

I've had my V12's for three years now and other than a dodgy colour choice they have been faultless. Buggers for chewing shins and calves though.

The only servicing they have had is a couple of strip down and regreasings. The wear appears to have been minimal. They get loads of abuse and have taken some nasty knocks. Must have 2000miles on at least now. :)

 when I got evans to fit them on mine as an exchange on the clipless the bike came with I asked for the silver ones. He finally wheeled the bike out of the workshop, and they looked hidious on the bike, silver and gold on a really dark blue bike

my first words were "can you change them for the black". The mechanic wasn't too impressed with keep having to mess around.

have you checked to see if they are tight? did you grease the threads before putting them on?

with about 1400 miles on mine the left one has started clicking once per rotation. i've stuck my old mx30's back on for now. umm and err'ing wether to go spd next hmmm, or even beefier flats?

legs getting stronger but stuff wearing out quicker :(

My left V12 makes a horrid whining rubbing sort of noise when spun around. It's had very little use.

Good job I just bought Wellgo MG1s then...

Always had V8s which need greasing - but now killed two sets so into sealed bearing flatties. The MG1s won over V12 mags due to lower weight and price.

I seem to be wearing kit out more quickly than I used to as well - getting expensive!

If you want to be REALLY trick, you can get DMR titanium axles and DMR V12 magnesiums - for £110 all in   30g lighter than MG1s which set me back £35 delivered (magnesium alloys, sealed bearings, paint that stay on for more than a day, etc).

Not if I saw 4.5 grams off each pedal - errrmmm - maybe by removing the studs?!

£180?!!! That's just silly! They look damn sexy though.

How pissed off yould you be if they packed up after 1 mile?!

I'm still annoyed with my V12s but they were a gift from my LBS when I did work experience, so I can't really complain!

The paint does appear to be the weakest link on mine - but when its all gone they will probably loook better  Nothing looks worse than blue pedals which are half silver. They do look like they've seen some action though. Either by taking the big hits or cack handed line choice

my v8's are fine with a few hundred miles on them, fair amount of abuse in there as well.
had to adjust them and pack a load of grease in befor i even rode them tho, bearings were tightened almost to the point of siezing

its most likely the threads, mine started creaking after a few hundred miles - took them out, regreased the threads and put them back in - silent! :)

I've got three sets of V8s -after years and years of almost faultless working, two sets have died in quick succession. Hence changing them.

Impressions of the MG1s is very good so far - spin sweetly, paint still on (!) and really don't weight a lot. Oh and grip well in the rain.

My V8s were exactly the same, although my Mg V12s are fine. Found the V8s just needed a few good runs to 'bed in'.

I would give them a lot more miles to bed in before I tried taking new pedals apart.

Are you sure its the pedals not your BB or summat, i am on my second set of V12's (First pair nicked with bike) I've ridden streeet and abused them very badly and not a peep other than occasionally(and i mean occasionaly) stripping and regreasing.

my v8's have been on for over a year, and only had one injection of grease and spin beautifully. the only thing missing is some paint and a few pins.

My V12 mags have been on some time now and are faultless. the only thinh missing is again some paint and a slight bit of pedal body as i twatted it on a rock not long after fitting them.

all in all, good pedals! impressed.
I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

now i'm sober and have read the thread properly hehe, i am going to echo what waylander said - check other causes. Use anti sieze or teflon grease on the threads and the flat of the axle that touches the crank.

my left (clicking) pedal was getting quite stiff so un-screwed the hex cap thing then cleaned out all the what looked like castrol gtx grease like stuff. un-screwed the nut on the axle and slide the axle out, cleaned that and smeared on a thin layer of pedros syn grease. put the axle back on then packed some more pedros in the end cap. also put some teflon lube on the pedal threads and on the part that touches the crank arm like super^ said.

result has been a more flreely spinning pedal (not fantastic but alot better) and no clicking in the last 100 or so miles of riding, think i'll do the same with the right pedal :)
  • my V8s took a while for bearings to settle into grease... maybe the bearings aren't quite fully lubed yet

Ah that is what happens from lubing the intestines with baked beans.

Maybe ankle? Problem is, ankles are ball socket joints. What you need is cartiledge bearings.
