I think Evans will win the TDF and with no team at all...it is some achievment and CSC screwed up by not putting Evans under pressure on the Bonette...they clearly are capable.

Remember Lemond and his nothing team in 1989. ADR. Even worse than Evans.

but Reynolds was a 1 man band...only Delgado when the hammer really went down...Indurain still hadnt had his miracle lose weight winter to transform...he was shelled when the big boys put the hammer down in 89 at Superbagners, ALpe DHuez, etc of Systeme u...there was only Fignon present when the hammer went down...Rooks and Thuenisse were way down cause of TTs...Evans had to overcome 3 guys as strong as 3 Fignons or 3 delagdos if you want to try and compare eras. Evans did brilliantly in 08 TDF and he is right to leave silence if they dont beef up their team with climbers.

Dave_1 - What do you make of Bruyneels comments when he says that Cadel wasn't as good as last year?

possibly...his last time trial was a shock..his lose of 8 seconds on the summit Prato Nervoso actually to be honest...unless I missed TV footage...all he had to do was hold wheels and he could not do that...he was struggling with the pace, not struggling from a loss of energy from covering CSC attacks on that climb...his 3 against 1 claim is hollow to some extent as he had trouble following...but Evans would have won with an Azevado, a landis, a Livingstone type to rescue him..
