Now Schleck might be some kind of late starter but it's just another tiny question mark, it's hardly a smoking gun. But material ripe for discussion on cycling forums, no?0 -
You're kidding, right? Cadel Evans vs Schleck in the mountains: Schleck has better acceleration and ability to handle speed changes (and he only got 9 seconds on Evans). Evans has Popovych to help him, Schleck has friggin' Sastre! Sastre's one of the best in the mountains. Evans has Robbie McEwen to chase down attacks (no joke, that actually happened). Schleck has Andy Schleck, who's not only amazing in the mountains but was 2nd in the Giro (and first if you believe Di Luca doped)! CSC is killing everyone in the mountains because they have THREE guys who are basically all mountain specialists!0

Who do we think is currently the CSC team leader.
I know that they will do this whole multiple attacks things to wear out cadel, but beneath the tactics who will the team be primarily working for?Rich0 -
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0

CSC have so many options dont they ? I'd say they prob decide each day who the team leader is - no point supporting someone whos having a shocker of a day and holding them back ?0

CSC are able to shell people out of the peloton, like ripe peas in a pod, because they can go faster for longer than the rest.
As to how they are able to go faster for longer, it's all speculative, not to say, in the light of Saunier Duval, subjective.
I think Damsgaard may be doing a terrific job, but he isn't hurting CSC's PR profile, either."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Sounds like a lot of CSC were tested yesterday

http://www.newspress.com/Top/Article/ar ... 5671234457New Tour de France leader Frank Schleck and his CSC team were given a surprise doping test after the 15th stage ended in Italy. No results were announced in a race in which three riders have been ousted for drugs.
As many as six riders were tested, the Italian Olympic Committee said Monday. Labs usually require several days to analyze doping tests.
The French anti-doping agency is controlling drug testing at this year's Tour. The Italian committee oversees doping in Italy and indicated that Sunday's tests were part of a pre-race agreement with the French authorities.
It's written in typical journalese English, but it could instead mean that Franck Schleck was tested, and six riders in total were tested - not 6 CSC riders tested
Aren't the first three after every stage and whoever's in yellow tested anyway ?
That would make it Gerrans, Martinez, Pate, Frank Schleck and two others.
But if 6 CSC were tested and if negative, that might quieten a few of the wagging tongues and pointing fingers0 -

According to Simon Gerrans, 14 people were tested and there was a bit of a queue.

Interesting that the dope test comes after the interviews, the podium and the press conference.
I was always under the impression that the stage winners were escorted from the finish line straight to the doping control in order to prevent any shenanigans. Guess I was wrong.0 -
The journos like to take the p*ss before dope control do0

Schleck turned 20 that year. Kreuziger turned 20 in his first year with Liquigas 2 years back, Gesink turned 20 2 years back, his first year pro last year, and about the only guy to have immediate success is Thomas Dekker turning twenty and winning Tirreno, and coming top 20 in the Olympics tt.
So, the year in Italy is not a good marker.
Having said that, no doubt Frank is on transfusions, but he is a tough SOB, and a great rider. Doped tho, ofcourse.Kléber wrote:andrewgturnbull wrote:I think the De Nardi stuff here is disingenuous - what we're talking about here is a young rider who struggled in his first year as a pro, and didn't get his contact renewed. Andy, you read this wrong.
They were given surprise out-of-comp (pseudo) tests at their hotel by CONI.
6 riders.
So assume Schleck brothers, Sastre, Cancellara, Voigt, +1.
Schleck had two in a few hours then.0
