Quick query for all...........

I have an Edge 705 with one cadence sensor (which is fitted to my racer). I want a cadence sensor for my MTB (for winter training) and was wondering if the sensor for the Edge 305 will work?

I note that they are in the sale at Evans Cycles but there is no picture so I can't compare the two. The description is naff also.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Cheers,

The 305 and 705 use the same speed/cadence sensor - model number is GSC-10

The fact they're being discounted suggests maybe there's something new in the works though. I've not heard anything but who knows...

I just tried as well and it appears they must have all gone :( - Bugger!!!!

They were only £7.99 as well - Should have taken a punt since even if it didn't work I could have chucked it on ebay to recover my money!

No, 205 doesnt have the reciever to work with the accessories like the HR or cadence....

Just ordered two myself, one for another bike and a spare, 25quid had put me off, but at 7.99 + shipping that ant bad!

Very weird, I had a look for one after reading this thread and they didn't have them listed. Half an hour later they were there again. I'm really pleased I've managed to get one as I've been riding with a broken one for most of the year.

If you want one just keep checking the website.

I've now had enough of this - it appears as though I won't be able to get one of these from Evans. :(

I think I'll keep an eye on Ebay over the next week or so since I'm hoping that all those people that ordered one for their racer, one for their TT, one for their MTB, plus four spare (just in case they lose them), one for their hybrid, one for all of their girlfriend's/brothers/friends etc bikes may actually decide that they have been a bit SELFISH and decide to let others have a chance and sell them on, obviously at a profit but a bit less than RRP.

One query - why did everyone buy a spare (presumably not for other bikes)? Have you all got more than one cycle computer (just in case) too?

Here's to pinning my hopes on ebay!!!!!

Annoying isn't it?!? You can get an in car charger for £41.99 (!!!!) though. Lol.

I think Evans has majorly messed up here and there are gonna be plenty of winners - well those that have actually managed to get a cadence sensor anyway!!

I received my 'cadence sensor' today.

What I actually got was the accessory kit for the sensor - 3 zipp ties and a wheel magnet.

To be fair to Evans, they have said this is a problem and I should be able to return this and they will send the sensor.

I'm guessing I might not get it that quick though????

Anyone else had a similar issue?

I believe that this is misleading under the sale of goods act 1979 and you are entitled to receive the actual sensor and not just the kit. If I were you I would mention this to Evans. Trade descriptions Act?!??

Judging by this thread it appears that quite a few of you are going to have the same problem. I think that, unless Evans sticks by its offer, their reputation is going to be tarnished and this could potentially cost them quite a bit of future custom.

If all those who ordered a sensor could update this thread as and when their delivery arrives with any issues etc perhaps others could point this thread out to Evans so they can look in to it.

So, PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD GOING!!!!!!!!!!
  • Wonder if they'll try that one with me too. I've ordered 2 cadence sensors today. Edit: I remember checking that it was the GSC10 too.

I'll mail them to make sure...

hmm - i;m worried now - i ordered one to replace one that cracked last year and I haven't bothered for £30 - but at £7.99 it was too good to be true (which means it probably wasn't)

it was definitely listed on the site as the GSC10 speed / cadence sensor - i checked, checked and checked again that this was the right thing. - my email acknowledgement says "Garmin speed / cadence sensor Stock:in stock"

Me too. I have one on each of my 2 bikes. Last year I had one that failed but was replaced under warranty. So I thought at that price for the future I should order 2 spares.

Like you, I double checked and it definitely said it was the sensor - no mention of the accessory kit. I gues it is a listing error by Evans. It will be very interesting to see if they honour their committments

I pre-empted things and dropped them an email saying I expect to receive the 2 sensors.
Will have to wait and see what happens.

  • Just had the call we have all been waiting for...they won't be providing the full sensor kit and only related to the magnet.

Anyone else been called yet? I assume we don;t really have any fall back do we?

no - I guess not although I will be wanting refunded for postage including my return costs - is that fair - else it will have cost around £4-£5 for their website error

    Yep. I've been called too.

"mistake on website...41.99...blah blah blah...out of stock anyway..."

given a refund. If anyone manages to get them to honour the deal, do post!

He has a list of 30 customers to call apparently. That's not many. It'll certainly make me hesitant to shop there again - if it's a choice between a good deal on their website and a similar one on another, I'll always doubt whether Evans will honour their prices.

Of course thats fair! No way you should pay postage to return. I choose ship to store and hasn;'t shipped yet anyway. They were phoning to check if i just wanted the magnet. They will know by now they've made the mistake (and I suspect they may be reading this right now!)

Just posted new thread...................... Invited Evans Cycles to comment. DOubt they will though.

Looking back I think that it may be a bit too strong - but nevermind. Please have a look and add your comments.

I also received the phone call about half an hour ago.
Given the option of the magnet kit for £7.99 or a refund. I was told they were not going honour the original deal. Incidentally, neither the sensor or the magnet are in stock despite what my original confirmation stated!

My comment was that it was misrepresented on the site and the reply was that yes it was, but was a human error. Apparently, there is a disclaimer to that effect on the website

However, when I tried to check that - the website is down!!
