Please forgive my shameless plug. The information about my new website http://www.zonecalc.co.uk that follows is not trying to make money from you, it is a free to register online service that allows you to record your training details, and I, the creator, am asking people to try it out in advance before Google get the spiders into it (which is good! ). Thanks guys.

I have just launched my new website and was hoping that I could draft in as many forum members as possible to help test it before Google gets hold of it. wondered if any of you guys would be good enough to help. It's FREE to use and in working order http://www.zonecalc.co.uk

I've been using it myself and I think ive ironed out a lot of bugs but I need some testers. The database will run now for good so any data you enter will remain. It is also private. The public will not see your data and you only need to leave a username, password and email, so if you want to be totally anonymous, create a unique login to what you'd normally use. Passwords one way are encrypted in the database.

ZoneCALC is a simple FREE training diary tool for tracking your zone based daily training. However, you can use the site to track your training without using zones if you so wish. Inputting your daily training data is quick and easy. It is primarily a web based number cruncher for 'at a glance feedback' of training zones and average/total times spent in these zones over a given cycle and user historical time period. ZoneCALC is always being added to, so expect new and improved features.

The aim is to fill the gap between spreadsheet based training diaries and complicated scientific analytic training software. It also gives you a current form rating based on a unique points scaling system. Be aware though, this form scale does not take physiological or scientific elements into consideration but can be used as merely a fun addition to watch your form, or as a rough guide to your condition over a period of 4 weeks, 6 weeks or 8 weeks, the generally accepted time taken for an adaptation or decline to occur after consistent or even inconsistent training.

Please please please let me know your comments, thoughts and any bugs you might find so I can fix them.

It is my aim to get athletes involved from across as many endurance sports as possible so you might see this thread (or similar) in other sports forums as well.

Here is the link http://www.zonecalc.co.uk

Thanks

Sean

  • I have just discovere the personal polar training site which is also free and not bad at all. Maybe not the lst word in sophistication but its nice and simple and easy to use.

Yes, the polar site is a good site. Zonecalc is slightly different though in that it is more of numbers log. It's difficult to extract numbers from polar to use ina spreadsheet, especially if your monitor doesnt download to a PC. In ZoneCALC you can just copy and paste the HTML output table into excel and hey presto, all your time in zone numbers to do what you want with and ou dont need expensive technology to use it. Just use RPE.
