Sadly no Freeview as there is insufficient bandwidth.
Aawww, I was just rustling up the sickie excuses for work. Still, Bobke should be good for a few lines and ITV has provided excellent material over the last couple of years. It is a real improvement over the C4 half hour for what is the world's greatest sporting event (I don't count things like throwing a spear or jumping over a horizontal stick between two upright sticks a sport).

I really like the weekend coverage, when I can bore the family rigid / say "sshhh!" to every unprovoked word and get to eat in front of the TV. I fear that if I had Eurosport I would never see daylight, family or work for those 3 weeks, as well as during the Giro, the Vuelta, the Classics....

ddraver, there has to be some penalty for the privilege of living in the greatest country in the world ;)

Just to confirm that there is a preview show on Friday night. This will be part look back at 2007, Inc an update on all that has happened since. And part look forward to this year's race. There's a big interview with Mark Cavendish and Ned Boulting's attempt to ride the Col de La Bonette.

All the progs will be available on line at itv.com/tour. All the progs will remain available throughout the tour.

We also hope to upload some interviews (usually the full length versions) and some feature pieces as well.

Sorry, forgot to mention that the highlights shows will be avaiable on itv.com shortly after the ITV 4 transmission. We have to do a little work on them (such as removing the competition in order to comply with the new rules on telephone comms!!!)
in general we hope to get the shows online within an hour of transmission.

All round excellent work by ITV. Any chance of getting the rights to the classics away from Eurosport as they keep stuffing them up.

The one great thing about the TV at Tour time is that cycling get the two best anchormen in the business - Gary Imlach and James Richardson.

tvprod - will the red button service be available on Freesat?

(I mean the newish one, not the sky platform with the same name!)
  • Well done ITV!

I've asked the ITV interactive team if the RB service will be available on FreeSat. No reply as yet but if you have FreeSat & press the Red Button & it goes to ITV interactive then it will get the Tour feed.
I hope to get a definitive answer tomorrow & will post then

Ok - after a flurry of emails here is the definitive answer to Red Button availability.

Sky Satellite and Virgin Cable only.

There will be a minimum of 3 hours each day - some stages have more. There'll be a list of timings available via itv.com/tour.

Any chance of live streaming of the interactive feed?

You might as well if you have the rights. It would keep us freeview people very happy indeed.

I'd even promise to watch the adverts!

Nice to see a lot of good stuff on the website . I shouldn't imagine many people actually watch ITV4 do they ?

On Eurosport its Beach Football and Volleyball :?

I know this is turning into a bit of an ITV love-in thread, but according to Eurosport's website, they have live coverage of the Tour team presentation tomorrow (Thursday) at 17:15.

It is good what ITV have got planned, but just to keep the balance, according to the TV guide, Eurosport have got coverage from 1100 am on Saturday until quarter past 5.

Coverage of what though, that's the question. Tennis? Snooker? Superbkes? Monster truck racing? Latvian Cluedo?

A big :) for the last-mentioned. Inspired! Mind you, at least with all of those other sports you won't have to endure the Dufftastic commentary. Well, as far as I know, anyroad [1]....

All being said, I did turn on Eurosport 2 today to find the well supported sport of Indoor Beach Soccer, where even the punters that turned up and paid their money didn't seem to know the rules!!! It is truly laughable some of the "sports" they will show.

Last time I had setellite TV I remember them showing 'Australian Beach Aerobics' as a 'sport'.

I guess it was rather like beach volleyball - a letching event where you could leer at girls in bikinis, but the attraction waned after a while...

Is it just me or is ITV 4 coverage on interactive restricted to a small box in the middle of the screen. There appears to be no way of making picture fill full screen which is a bit disappointing ,its like watching through a letterbox.

Just click on the symbol with the box on to make it bigger! its near the fast forward buttons.

Will try that tomorrow - in the end I went back to Eurosport as I couldn't get it full screen either.

    Sounds like an OTT headline from one of the red-tops! Or possibly a spoof request for guests for a now-defunct daytime TV vehicle for an orange-faced ex-MP, as much parodied by Charlie Brooker on www.tvgohome.com;

"Has satellite TV turned you gay? The Kilroy team would like to speak to you on 0870 1234567"
