    The latter.

and you can do without it if you want to go lower at the front - or at least the pre-build bikes did so assuming the frame/fork/headset was the same kit - the cone is a spacer that sits on top of (and covers up) the actual top cap of the headset.

I got (well still waiting for) a 49cm (!), and the headtube is 11cm, I was thing that if the odd looking spacer went on top I'd get away without getting amymore spacers, as a 13 or 14cm headtube will be about right for me., being young and flexible.

Reckon a brown leather Brooks saddle will go well with the Langster? I've been dieing to get a brooks but they just wouldn't feel right on any of my other bikes.

I'm sure a brown brooks saddle will go well with the brown langster yes.

They aren't really my cup of tea, brooks saddles I mean, but I have the brown "leather-look" charge spoon saddle on mine and some matching bar tape - it looks great (in my eyes anyway!)

Would LOOK OK depending on model. Personally I can't abide the things. Instruments of torture.

My apologies to everyone for the damage to several bank balances that this thread has caused! :P

Whoa ! a Brooks saddle is for life, not just for the fashionable season.

Those ultra hard, make your eyes water, Italian colour co-ordinated jobbies look fine in a pic...but a Brooks is a 'lifetime' sit down!

    Don't compromise!

 It's not the cost of the frame that is doing the damage, it's all the new bits to go on it !

I originally intended to add all the old bits I've got lying around, but it would be a shame to spoil the ship for a ha'porth 'o tar, wouldn't it ?
