My knee for smelling of Deep Heat, it's usually the right knee that gives me twinges but tonight the left knee wanted to have a go hence the Deep Heat. Might have to indulge again in the morning.

can I just state on the record that even though some people are able to juuuuuuuust about get their cable lock around their waist to carry it if the end result is that the back of your shirt rides up and then your body folds around the lock to enclose it within itself then it should not be done.

was stuck behind a chap on the way home tonight and lets just say...

Know what you mean. Just had a similar run of luck, mind you my rear tyre is almost tissue paper thin in places

I tend to replace tubes them when I would have to patch a patch or when the valve stem splits whichever happens sooner.

I think that might be the issue, the gatorskins have 5k (miles) on the clock, so it might be time to change to the Marathon pluses that I was trying to flog, rather than buy a new set of tyres.
  • What is more embarrassing is that I had purchased a replacement tyre and the only reason it wasn't fitted it is that I was too lazy to do it at the weekend  .

  • At the junction at the top of High Holborn, how far into the RIGHT TURN LANE for Southampton Row do I have to be for the 'kin idiots to get the idea that I might be turning RIGHT and why.... why would you be to the right of me if you're cycling straight on??

This morning the lights changed and I was just starting to lean into the turn when I realised there was a BB'er about to ride straight into me. Aargh!

    Bicycles suck.

2...yes 2 punctures on the way home tonight, plus I had a couple of beers so was tired.

    That's 3 punctures in 5 days.

Up until this point I've not had a puncture for a fricken year, WTF has changed! :(

Tonight I will goto sleep in a huff, but tomorrow I'll wake up and do it all again (hopefully minus any more punctures).

On the plus side it gives me practise in changing tubes, and I'm getting faster 8)

CRC again for sending the chain I ordered out in an A4 sized box despite the message at the bottom of the paypal screen asking for a jiffy bag and not an oversized cardboard box.

To the WVD who left hooked me this morning.

When I tap on your van and you then get out, do not tell me that I should have been looking where you where going. I was, if i wasn't then I wouldn't of seen you accelerate past me, then slam on your brakes, indicate at the last minute and turn in front of me. What's more if I hadn't been look where you were going and a anticapted what you where about to do, I would of been under you van and not tapping on the side of it.

To then have the audacity to call me a fucking fat cunt, have you looked in the mirror lately.

While something doesn't sit right with me about cyclists with head cam posting video on youtube, this has made be absolutly convinced that I need one, this guy should not have been on the road.

Nobbers everywhere, all on bikes, nobbers on the pavement, nobbers blinding me with their lights in Richmond Park, nobbers jumping lights (that weapon on a google bike again - NKR to West End), nobbers filtering in front of me to block my path then setting off at a snails pace. one day i'm going to snap!

    Because they lack imagination.

Bit of extra spice this morning when the temporary traffic lights were stuck on red. Its not much fun either way at the moment.

I think there was a problem with the tempary lights heading north this morning. Chaos.

In other news, and with almost delicious irony, I was bullied out of the way by a white van whose slogan was "Safety at the highest level"....

I don't know what's up with everyone, but there seems to be a noticeable increase in aggressive driving. I used to go months without incident, but I've been cut up or barged out of the way on an almost daily basis in the last couple of weeks. This morning it was a car tailgate-ing me across Clapham Common on Rookery Road, then when I was trying to filter into the traffic on CC North Side, barged down my right hand side with inches to spare.

It's the time of year imho. The roads just seem busier and busier means more frustration which some people will take out on cyclists.

I personally am more likely to take it out on older men and women as they are the ones who can't seem to drive any more (or less) than 40mph and so make my drive to work so much more frustrating than it needs to be.
  • To the stupid bint on the scooter last night riding (and I use the term loosely) towards Colliers Wood:
    1. You are an arse.
    2. Swerving into the cycle lane to avoid the slowing traffic is NOT acceptable especially when a cyclist (me) is almost adjacent to you on the left.
    3. If you had decided to indicate, I may had been a bit more reserved in passing judgement, or not.
    4. If you had even taken the time to check your mirror all you would have seen was your elbow or the shoulder of your wide eyed passenger. Get some proper mirrors.
    5. When I yell at you to get out of the F***ing CYCLE lane. It means just that. No hidden messages honest.
    6. Your retort telling me that I was going too fast is null. The cycle lane aids filtering for bicycles. It is a cycle super highway after all...
    7. See point 1.

    That is all.

To the motorcyclist behind me this morning on Lower Thames St who beeped me to get out of the way so he could squeeze in between the three cyclists I was waiting behind and the truck: (a) the gap was tight, what if the lights went red? don't be daft, (b) it's a bike lane. You motorcyclist, me bike, sod off.

@W1/Gussio - yep, mess going over Stanley Bridge atm. Tempted to go Lots Rd tonight - there's all sorts of filtering, cutting in and out, swerving going on.

To the driver of the DHL van this morning, I did not appreciate that, turn the music down and slow down, there's plenty of room to overtake after the corner and I wasn't exactly dawdling.

If you are freelancing (e.g. Self Employed) why not register yourself as the employer in the C2W scheme then rent yourselft the bike, you'll pay the cash upfront as the employer but at least it'll be a business cost you pay no tax on. If you are vat registered even better....
