You called yourself a "fat lad", but unless you weigh several tons and her car is made of tracing paper, I can't see how you were going to kill her! :?

"As I said last time, it won't happen again."
  • Well I weigh just short of 19 stone so at speed, I could do some damage to a car if I hit it head on but I was stopped!!! (I agree, its likely to do a bit more damage to me than I to it!)

I agree, some people just don't seem to act "normally"....whatever that is!
  • To the BMW driver on the approach to the roundabout this morning.
I know I should never have been in primary in the left approach lane, but I only wanted to join the back of the queue. I apologise for taking the road space that was rightfully yours. I'm sorry that you had to use your vehicle to try to gently nudge me into my rightful place in the gutter. I also apologise for leaving the skin of my knuckles on your wing mirror and smearing it with my blood. I do hope you managed to find whatever it was you lost under the dashboard. It was obviously vitally important as you failed to notice that I was trying to catch your attention.
Please don't lose any sleep over the incident. I apologise for spoiling your day.

Office chairs are bl00dy uncomfortable

And the office is freezing despite it being a beautiful day outside.
  • Damn that FAIRY!

Left work last night ready for a pootle home only to find the bottom of my front tyre was lacking some air. It seems the PF enjoyed visiting me so much about a week ago that she returned again yesterday to do me over again.

If I ever catch the b1tch I will pull her wings off and stick a flint in HER!

    Rant over.

Oh and thanks to the loads of chaps streaming out of the gate looking over to me and offering not a hint of help, let alone a simple, "are you ok?" If I were a bitter man I might return the complement. :!:

    Rant really over.

I consider myself to be a fairly safe cyclist, sure I have odd moments when I think 'I shouldnt have done that!' but several years of cycling in London have made me acutely aware of the dangers of commuting by bike in London. (Having been the victim of 2 smidsy's and ended up in hospital one one of those occasions). More importantly I also like to think I'm fairly considerate especially to other cyclists.

That is why I was so bloody annoyed by the female cyclist who ranted at me in Chelsea at about 7am as I was cycling in Beaufort st. It confirmed my view that some cyclists have no road sense, are not fit to grace the roads and are a danger to themselves and others.

What really irked me was that I (and atleast 2 other cyclists) had sat patiently behind this particular lady whilst crossing Battersea Bridge as she was noticeably unsteady on her bike, appeared quite nervous and was cycling very slowly. She was also cycling quite some distance from the kerb and bearing in mind that she was going at a very sedate pace, was a little inconsiderate for other cyclists (and cars crossing the bridge), if not a little dangerous. Another problem was that not once did she look over her shoulder to see what was behind her. But hey ho! I wasn't in any particular hurry so I was quite content to sit behind her. I overtook her as I pulled away from the lights coming off the bridge into Beaufort Street. I then got caught at the next set of lights at Kings Road and then saw her overtake me as I was waiting at the lights and then RLJ!! Albeit the lights changed a few seconds later but nevertheless it was still RLJ!. I quickly caught up with her and then pulled around her again and deliberately gave her plenty of room and carried on my merry way. I knew it wasn't my morning when I got caught at the next set of lights at Fulham Road. It was whilst waiting here that she pulled along side me and begain her rant claiming I had cycled so close to her that I had nearly knocked her into a parked car. What ???

I was taken aback at first and professed an apology if that is what I had done (but being certain I hadn't). But oh no, she couldn't leave it there and then accused me of being dangerous and nearly kiiling her! As this was coming fom someone I had given every consideration and who was clearly a danger to herself and other road users I was now rather annoyed (to say the least). As politely as I could tried to explain how considerate I had been to her and that maybe she should look over her shoulder once in a while as she was cycling so slowly, not RLJ, and consider learning how to ride her bike properly, and get some sense of her position in the road etc. However, pointing out her inadequacies clearly did not go down too well as she then completley lost the plot shouting some obscenties at me whilst riding off through another red light as she turned left into Fulham Road!

I hope I see her again next week as I will happily pay for her to complete a cycling proficency test!

The quote below is now suddenly very apt!
Some days you wake and immediately start to worry, nothing in particular is wrong its just the feeling that forces are quietly aligning and there will be trouble

Wiggle: Why does you non express delivery/checkout mean the package will be delivered in 24 hours, the last few orders have been 72 hours. I was expecting it tuesday, not today at 08:05 when the effects of 5 pints and ten pin bowling were forcing my head onto the pillow.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Headwind all the way home this morning :(

I can't cycle into headwinds so I am now praying next Sunday is either a very light breeze or has a westerly otherwise it will be a loooong day in the saddle.

    Dear couples,

It's very sweet that you want to ride to work together.
However, it's pretty frustrating for the cyclist you box in by pulling in front at the lights, and having the outside cyclist ride half a bikelength behind.

  • Well the smug grins dissappeared from their gormless mugs pretty quickly and they certainly didn't stay under the speed limit as they pulled away from me  not that I could have caught up with them - I couldn't clip in I was so angry!
  • why do BMW drivers try to add to their reputation as fecking w4nker drivers all the time.

Got nuddged on the pedal by one as I overtook another cyclist just off lights. He gained very little bar me and all the other cyclists overtaking him again.

He did helpfully toot on his big horn.

    Tw4t.

But just beware fellow guys that given the inevitable rise in cyclists tomorrow - there will be some drivers unwilling to be careful.

Bloody asthma! I've been pretty much on top of it for nearly 30 years, then bam! For the past two weeks I've really been struggling on my ride to and from work. On Friday I raced another cyclist through town, and by the time I turned off (having won the race), it was like I was sucking air through a straw. Same again today.

My inhaler is more of a reliever than a preventer, but I've been using that before some of the rides. It doesn't seem to make much difference.

Coincidentally, one of the other guys in my office says his breathing's been worse for about two weeks as well.

  • Why do trains from Braintree Freeport to Liverpool Street only leave once an hour?

Because of this annoying fact, I had to drive all the way in to Mayfair, and just had to drive from Mayfair to Ealing.

I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

Certainly not in a hurry. Cycling wasn't much fun either. The Embankment was stacked with stationary cars, and a twunt in black Range Rover (does the twuntishness come with the keys, or does one have to be one in order to purchase one?) deciding to change lanes on DSC without looking. Luckily I was far enough forward to be able to nip in front of him, and then turn round for my best "WTF?" filthy look.

Some shops used to issue a limited time (a week or so) credit voucher in these circumstances, for the second item. It might be worth asking next time. But this was some time ago, so it may have changed.

I'm not a dog lover. Never have been, probably never will be, but its their owners that really wind me up.

I was pootling through a park today and one four seperate occasions dog owners walking towards me on the path failed to control their dogs and resulted in me having to take evasive action. If I'm approaching from behind, I see it as my responsibility to avoid the dogs and their owners, but if you see me coming, control your bloody dog and get out of my way. Or rather, don't step into my path.

I like dogs, but last week on 2 successive days dogs attacked me (yes attacked) on my bike. The usual mutterings from the owners, "he doesn't like bikes" doesn't wash with me. It's the f**king dog owners I'd rather kick away. Just for a count that was 1 staffy and 1 border collie.

Oh and on both accounts it was on a cycle track that some dog owners think is a dog toilet and don't pick up after their pooch fouls.

Idiot chav in a land rover over takes me as he comes up to a set of traffic lights, leaving just a few inches to spare.

I filter past him and give him THE GLARE.

We're at at the lights for 30 seconds. What a pointless manoeuvre that was.
