Saw a crowd of angry passengers around the station staff who pulled them off because the train was now going to leave 40 mins later so they should get the slow train instead.

Only to see the fast train set off at normal.

    Cue rage....

I had a funny incident whilst driving on narrow country roads. Another driver who wouldn't back up 20 yards to a good passing point because there was a tiny hint of a passing spot involving me moving my car into a gate almost the same length as my car. Driver behind him backed up immediately and gave this guy room to back up too so he obviously thought the guy should back up.

I found it laughable that a motorist feels the need to force another off the road to save face by not backing up a short distance.

Needless to say I sat with my handbrake on and car in neutral until he backed up.

If we'd been on our bikes there would not be enough room for us and the car to pass. So I'm glad we were in the car. I reckon he'd be difficult with cyclists too.

What does it matter who backs up? Just the driver closest to a safe passing place should back up. I know the uphill / downhill issue but the safest and closest passing point should always be used (emphasis on safest).

Side entry bottle cages, need I say more? OK. They're side exit cages in reality. Are there any good ones? Specialized ones don't grip that well. Fortunately I can pivot the cage part around to turn it into a normal cage but what a bad product.

Used the cheap PX ones on my London to Edinburgh ride - https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BOPXBI/pl ... ottle-cage

I managed to throw a bottle once, hitting a cattle grid at speed - could have happened with any cage, frankly. Another guy on the ride had the same cages, no complaints from him.

I haven't bothered to take them off yet, they work fine.

Climbing a hill had the bloody right pedal body split away from the spindle again. Thankfully, driver who'd been tailgating me had just finished a hasty overtake not sure what would have happened if it was 2 seconds earlier.

Glad to see the road works have finished at the bottom of Balham hill, f***ing infuriating that they've used the extra lethal slippery blue paint on the CS7 southbound over the road they dug up!

I thought they were supposed to be switching to the new grittier stuff everywhere??

Absolute numpty in BMW X6 this morning decided that parking in a free public car park for dropping little .... off at school was beneath them So used the entrance to the car park and a bus link to reverse round a 270 degree bend so they could park on the pavement instead. Admittedly it would be a whole 6 feet closer to the school entrance mind.

Nearly Trod on yet another small young woman, who declocked in my blind spot ie just behind my arms.

For some reason it’s always small young women, never small blokes, last one I clunked on the top of her head in a crowd as I moved my arm, she went for the gap, I returned my arm and not so gently tapped her head!

    Mutter grump etc!

Me, my new bike & Decathlon.

The bike required fiddling with the gears, and I managed to adjust and index the rear derailleur. I have, however, failed miserably to get it right at the front. FFS. Not the only problem. The handlebar plugs don't stay in place and now, the freshly put bar tape (because else Decathlon wouldn't set up british style brakes) has started unwrapping... from the drops! FFS!

    I'm so ducking pissed...

People who jump through the lights onto the Embankment superhighway at Parliament Square. The ped lights are green and it takes no effort to stop and let people cross.

Utter cockwomble this morning, swerving through people and when I caught up to him and had a word he just said "f off, everyone does it". I pointed out that none of the 15 people currently trying to overtake had done it but it didn't seem to sink in.

If he wants to go faster, turning the pedals with greater frequency would get him further than jumping lights.

Train I caught this evening was running 79 minutes late and then terminated before even getting out of central London. The thing is, it's got so bad on Thameslink that everyone is just numb to it. We all shuffled onto the platform to be told the next train going the same direction was another hour away, if at all.

Had my first reminder I'm in the sticks.

Some guy on an upright, flat barred bike in civies cycling the other way.

Decides to give me a passive-aggressive GOOD MORNING.

What purpose do these a*seholes with wings serve? One of them flew under my bloody visor on a TT warmup last night - god alone knows how I escaped getting stung. Then this morning I open my front door and one flies straight into me and stings me on the f**king arm

They're essential pollinators, and also eat (other) pest insects (small flys, etc). It's surprising just how useful they really are given, as you say, they're a*seholes.

You know when it’s a passive aggressive move.

That’s how village people operate. Always passive aggressive.

Takes a lot to get them to Straw Dogs behaviour.

Getting rather fed up with this heatwave and how my power training has been negatively affected (2 litres of fridge-cool water lasting less than 2 hours of riding when it takes at least 30mins+ to reach a decent hill or a cat4), not for the first time recently I was supposed to go out before 0700 this morning while it was still relatively cool, but I'm sleeping so badly in the heat that I wake up super-groggy and feeling in no state to head out.

Looks like it will be a non-power training ride after 1800, first non-commute ride since last Friday!

I know this is the rants thread, but jeez.

Anyway, if he actually was being a knob, then surely the correct response is even more passive aggressive Morning!

Going right on a mini roundabout last night, checked the lane to my right, clear, so onto he roundabout, just about to commit to crossing the other lane, when a police car comes straight onto the roundabout at speed, without checking the other lanes....thankfully I am wary of this particular roundabout and was able to stop, if not....ambulance for you sir; if I was lucky.

Caught up with him and he gave some half hearted apology about not being able to see me

Village idiot cycling along the cycle path with a phone in his right hand weaving about like a slalom skier. Authoritative shout of passing on your right resulted in a tirade about how if he dropped his phone it would be my fault and he would punch me. That its was a path so the phone was OK and I should be on the road bless the tiny brain cells that came up with this logic. All recorded and saved. Now to work out what branded company t-shirt he was wearing for some more entertaining banter next week.

Manufacturers selling their entry-level sub £1000 bikes with 52-36 in the front and 11-28 in the back. In hilly regions. What's the point? You need an FTP > 250 W, or a really low cadence, for this gearing to make any sense. Totally not that entry level in my book.

    Any examples?

I didn't think they did a Sora chainset with 52-36.
