I've never had an issue with it before but previously the brakes have always been mounted on the seats stays. It's only because the brakes are behind the bb and you have three cables running through there that it gets congested.

    BT. Being b*stards.

Signed up for TV and broadband back in Nov. Last month they hiked their prices up after paying £1b for the Champions League rights. Because they broke the contract they offered us a free opt out, which we took as had been disappointed with their TV box and don't watch the Champions League.

They have since made moving to another phone/internet provider as difficult as possible. They dragged their feet to start the switch, since switching we've gone a week without internet and have to wait another week for a BT engineer to come out and fix a fault on the line.

I did the same without any issues as just signed up with new provider (VM) and next had an e-mail from BT saying sorry we were leaving and did we realise all that we'd miss, blah, blah, blah, followed by the misleading correspondence asking for their kit back. Part of their green recycling responsibility my foot, more like refurbish it and flog it to the next customer.

Sounds a bit like an ex work colleague who change the HT leads on his car by removing them all first.

That's the cable outer caught on some rough carbon fibre on the inside of the downtube. Shifted it with a magnet and moved onto the next obstacle.

Impressive! But an endoscope just to run brake cables? Next thing you know you'll be cleaning your chain using ultrasound.

This is why I think my next bike should have exfernal cables and not infernal. I would also be looking at a threaded BB. So my current bike is just fine. But I shouldn't have washed it the other day, I discovered the paint is bubbling quite badly at the bottom of the down tube.

Purely because it then only takes me a few seconds to unclip the chain, drop it in, press the button, walk away& get on with something else.

    Got all that shoot too.

I think it's because we haven't moved to another fibre provider (like Virgin) as a BT Engineer has to switch us back.

We're still waiting for them to get their ar$es into gear.

I just read that and I think it's changed my life. I used to sit there for an hour pulling baby wipes dipped in white spirit through individual links in the chain - I was familiar with the need to clean the inside of the links rather than polishing the outside, but it's time-consuming, filthy and boring - when you throw in cleaning the cassette as well, it's a major ballache. Do you have a recommendation for an ultrasonic cleaner that won't break the bank?

This is the one I use, around £100.
My folks have a history in the jewellery industry, so I've always been aware of and around these things. I started off with a "small-jewellery cleaner" but at 50W it wasn't powerful enough. The one in the Maplin link is 170W and it works well. It's also paid for itself as I've been able to clean up old vintage components from my parts bin to "as new" cleanliness and sell them on a popular auction site.

I use the lidl one, but of course you have to wait until that's back on offer.
Only a litre unit, not two, but can take a 10 spd cassette when broken down.

I do have to change my cleaning approach from "bio degreasers" to white spirit though, such a difference when pre-cleaning.

What made me think that was binning it on a cobbled bridge a few weeks back with a chain that only had 200 miles on it. Cassette looked fine but was obviously fubared as when I replaced it I had no problems since. Teach me to change me chain more often - last one had more than 2000 winter miles on it and not only did the tool measure 1.0% stretch, it would have been closer to 1.25% - meant I only got two chains out the cassette when it should have been at least three (always was previously when I replaced more diligently)

Radio dj: "I'm a cyclist too so i know about both sides!"

Grrrr! So you've just brought up a story about cyclists doing things wrong and you're justifying a one sided rant by admitting that you one rode a bike.

Truth is he'll be the sort who sees every motorist as doing things wrong when he's riding a bike and every cyclist is doing things wrong when he's in a car. Tool! Spanner!

Why do local, commercial radio djs believe it's good radio to talk about one class of road user doing things wrong?

PS I'm highly biased because one of their employees in a branded Nissan juke likes to close pass and cut me up.

Because in the car is about the only time people ever listen to the radio.

There's a lot of kit with strong magnets in them. As a kid I went through a phase of collecting magnets. My young son found a few that I'd forgotten about. They were stuck to metal boxes when I was a kid. He's been going around looking for things to stick them to. My partner was letting him until I let her know that strong magnets and certain data storage don't mix well. Funny how people still don't know that magnets can damage things in this modern age.
