Club clothing order placed in November after a try on session at club house. Ordered through Tinelli. My bib shorts ordered and paid for with an alteration of 2" shorter on the leg. Didn't get done, returned. Other orders in LS club jerseys ,XXL for the taller guys , had their sleeves shortened by 2"! Doh!

  • Who would've thought a squeaking chain can cause so much annoyance... I forgot to do it last night, realized when I left home this morning. Too late to go back and lube it up and of course it punished me for this. Never heard it squeaking so much, it drove me absolutely crazy. And now I have the journey back home to deal with as well. Argh.

New BT hime hub 6 arrived today, plugged in and wham speed 10% less than before, even tho the new speed should be 20% more, BT say oh it needs time to adjust - okay that BS but fair enough

then tonight the 5Ghz band just goes away leaving half the house with no internet, multiple factory resets later I have an almost working slow connection.

This is an upgrade how? and how do non technical people deal with this?

I know exactly where the problem is but trying to explain a core router OS bug with 1st tech support is like pissing into a storm.

Left my locker key and access card for work at home today and only realised when I got to the gate at work so used the car park exit gate as a car came out to get on site then use the masterkey to get into my locker and left all my stuff hiding behind the shower curtain. Left my work clothes hanging in the same cubicle but my £70 work coat is in a colleagues' locker.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Still not 100% so not riding to work (plus it's icy this morning, and it's forecast torrential rain later...).

Signs up last week saying there would be roadworks at junction 1 on the way into work, and big advertising campaign from the local council saying more roadworks 6am-3pm junctions 5-6 so I left early.

Got to work 45 minutes early because there were no roadworks.

Loads of morons one bikes, but not knowing how to actually ride them this morning. For some reason lots of women on Bromptons who never moved their heads more than 5 degrees from straight ahead and were a danger to anything on or near the road. Then, literally 50 metres from work a guy on a Boris Bike rides into the back of me while I'm moving (slowly due to pedestrians crossing in front of me). Haven't checked my wheel or bike for damage, but I'll be really fed up if there is any damage beyond cosmetic.
  • Every single time, with no exception - the day after I clean my commuter, it rains. A lot. And I ride during the downpour. Meh.

Agree with the two post above. For me it's changing cables, the rear gets so gunned up the shifting goes to pot, so clean it all up, new inner and sometimes outers and then it goes and hacks it down so hard that no doubt tomorrow it'll be borked again.

I have full length outers and SP41 ferrules (the ones with the rubber diaphragm in them) on my mountain bike and the shifting's much better than when the cables were exposed. Is that a possible solution?

I've got XT or XTR on my cross bike that are double sealed, seem to work well as they've been on there for 3 years now and are still moving freely.

The ferrules have a seal in them and the long bit pokes through the cable stop, the other bit is a softer rubber sheath that goes over the protruding bit from the other side of the cable stop.

I'm experimenting with washing and greasing my bike after every ride. With polish spray in the morning after it had dried.
From how the rain and dirt only spotted on it this morning think I should be able to wash it clean in no time tonight.

Killed another bike. Weld failed on the drive side, seat stay to dropout.

Had a fair old hike to the train station, did at least mean I could take the bike on the first train that came.

Tally is now 2 steel, 2 alu, 1 carbon.

To be on the safe side I'll let you know once I've heard back from the retailer, but it was a singlespeed cyclocross bike, so not particularly expensive, and as a cross bike not necessarily expected to have a long lifespan (although it was mostly used on road for commutes).

Binned it on club run on Sunday in an absolute comedy moment where I was told we were turning right... but we weren't. Hole in knee, bruise the size of a melon on hip, elbow feels all sharp and hurty

Worse, now have a hole in my thermosuit, which is Castelli - so no repair service to speak of. Might give a patch a shot - anyone know if Pronty is any good? Seen some reasonable reviews of it.

Ooh. Will have to give that a go next time I redo my CX bike. That bit of outer is the one I'm always having to replace as well. :)

Idiots driving and using their phones. Just walked down the road to get lunch and a woman drove across the zebra crossing I was on whilst looking down and typing into her phone. I'd seen her coming and clocked she was looking down so hung back anticipating it. Drivers window was open so as she passed I yelled "Oi!!!" really loudly followed by "get off your phone bitch". Definitely made her jump because the brakes came on and the car had a wobble, shame she was well clear of the crossing by the time she realised. Total and utter phucktard. Driving a DPD van. Considering emailing them but they will always certainly ignore it.

    Surely they will.

As my complaint against a bus driver a while back.

Going to a club ride in the morning, already in a roundabout > bus coming from road on the left > at the point I was "in front" of the bus, he proceeds to enter the roundabout > had to sprint to avoid being hit and probably taken under the bus. Recorded the bus number and reg plate, route and time, sent my complaint to TfL and they responded on the following day. They passed on my complaint to the franchise operating the route. Guess what - even after chasing I never received a response.

Just look at that coach company in the news yesterday, when people made complaints on Twitter the bus company just blocked them!

So, recently the council have added 2 cycle lanes to a stretch of road on my commute. Great, you'd think. Only the thick f*ckers have done it to a 2 lane road that is barely wide enough for 2 lanes of traffic, meaning when cars pass each other in opposite directions they need to use the cycle lanes.

I can only think that they plan on making it a 1 way road.

Oh and also, why can't councils repair pot holes PROPERLY?

A couple of weeks ago they finally got round to repairing a stretch of road that wouldn't have been out of place in Baghdad. I saw them take out a bag of what looked like ready made bitmac and pat it down with a shovel. This lasted for a matter of days and is now as bad as it was before.

It must have been "patched" up 5 or 6 times now. If they'd just repaired the patches properly 1st time around it would have saved them money in the long run.

To be fair to drivers, I never get any stick cycling primary down there as the holes are so big the cars/busses need to avoid them.
